I am really torn here. I hold CIV IV as the best game ever made, but I really dont want to get on the Steam bandwagon. I would think that they would make more money on full expansions than on some small DLC`s. I bought CIV IV + both expansions. Need a few DLC`s to make as much money as that on CIV V. I will not buy on release I guess, but will wait and see. There is also Kings Bounty Crossworlds and Elemental to play. What an interestin
For a PC TBS game, it's gotten plenty of coverage. You also have to keep in mind that it's a new franchise so it has to built up everything from scratch. Civ has had many years to build up a core fanbase excited for the next installment.
Add to that the increasing likelihood that Civ will annoy a good chunk of their fanbase (the usual suspects: DRM, DLC, mainstreaming of the game)- Elemental has a good sh

The game itself comes out in three weeks, though it should be massively improved over time, as the GalCiv games were. Then again, I'd say right now EWOM beta is about as polished as the recent Total War games.
A Kohan-style game.
That's a good disscount compared to what you guys get gouged at. I noticed at least the Aussie prices when I used an Aussie proxy were in line with the US prices (I did check due to a thread on another forum) The reason it's so "expensive" is because your currency is weaker right now, it's the same $50 we Americans are paying. It's a global price- you aren't getting gouged. If the pound was $1.80 like it was before Europe started worrying about the other white
For Europe why not let Paradox handle it like they did GC2, or did that not go well?
One idea I'd like to propse, borrowing from AoW series allow gain of special abilities at random as a choice for level up.
GC2 suffered from too many goodie huts IMO. You need a few, but they should require adventuring techs, or adventurers to see.
Some simple ones dodge- Dex% chance of avoiding enemy melee blow parry- % chance of avoiding enemy melee blow spell slinging- has x% chance of reflecting enemy single-target spell back to caster bash- can keep enemy from moving in tactical combat whirlwind- can attack all units surrounding, but also friendly units bandage/medicinal herbs- extra +n HP healing at end of turn to all in stack
Has Sega gone Steam exclusive on other PC stuff lately? 2K seems to be doing it with all titles. That said, Sega's still under boycott until the new Virtua Fighter gets a console release (I'm a huge fan of the series- and not happy with how it's been treated this gen in the US. Most intelligent fighting game series ever. B
2nd patch today, or some bug. Was checking for Din's Curse patch and got this instead.
Saved Game, went to options, turned on "Smart played colors" tried to start a new game (sovereign had a blocked start and could do almost nowhere) CTD.
Servers seem to be straining, a bit surprised as this isn't a time for that- unless they got something on the app side updating today. Taking a LONG time to verify.
Ok, so it wasn't a fluke. This is early for a SD patch.
The fact that this game doesn't have restrictive DLC so modders have freedom is a sign of support. they haven't locked up Proncinipee and charged $10. One idea I just thought of, though it's more of an Impulse idea, and not many would use: Allow people to quicksave their game to Impulse If someone's using one comp to play at work, and another from home, this would allow them to continue what they started one place, on their real computer.
Question- could mod assets make it into the official game if they are good enough? That would be a pretty good incentive- especially if you offered some rewards for it, like $100 gift cards to Impulse. Really looking forward to getting this tomorrow (more like Friday 8am) going to be a boring 16 hours at work Friday.
Holding and delaying can be part of a winning strategy, especially if you have other resources to leverage. If you're behind in military, you should be ahead in other areas. Diplomacy makes those areas matter more. I am not seeing this as a tool for losers at all. If you're winning in other areas- you'd have the option of using those, or using diplomacy yourself to save your resources for something else. &n

Since 2K made Civ V a Steamworks game, Brad isn't supporting it (with good reason). Honestly, Civ V is looking lik
Diplomacy is obvious a tool for a weaker player to compete against a stronger player. A stronger player wouldn't need diplomacy. A bigger player would out-DC a smaller one in the end if they gave diplomacy the same focus. If the smaller player puts all their focus into diplomacy, they'll fall behind in other areas. Diplomacy can be used to beat opponents, buying you time to get better units up, forcing the enemy who rushed to wait a while longer, tan
Breaking a peace treaty that is approved by the others, would signal your disregard for them. This should, and would, rightfully move you up the list of threats. As for having gameplay "forced upon you?", I see this as no different as someone rushing you. That's forcing a military game on someone. If you're being overmilitaristic, you should expect a hard response from those who can resist, and those who can't will do what they can behind the scenes. if som

That said, Elemental Nendoroids wouldn't be a bad idea.
If you decide to ignore the peace, you're basically signaling your intent to conquer everyone/shatter the balance of power. That should have real, severe consequences. Another factor is when you get bigger, you'll get more DC just from being bigger. You can't turtle and win on DC- you just won't be big enough. It should be allowed to break a forced peace, but at a massive relations hit with everybody, the AIs would also be much more likely to use the i

Can you list what you're doing for diplomacy, and if you're following any of the ideas listed? On, egalitarian should be default at creation: Male, Female, Random, or Select, so you can have an all-male, all-female, egalitarian, or select gender. No reason to restrict this.
