The downside is if corporations do enough of this, the poor will revolt because it will be in their best interests, and everyone loses. People use the hand they're dealt. Then you get an overreaction in the other direction. And yes, corporations can lose big- all it takes is a citizenry that is willing to throw out the rule of law because they see it as worthless. When folks see the law as worthless, they are willing to turn to the tyranny of the majority.&nb

One reason why I don't really wish for another expansion to this series is that I think there are limitations right now to the point where an expansion isn't going to make large improvements. I think it would take a sequel in a few years. The "unannounced" game in development is something I am more excited for- because I feel it can take the great elements that have been developed over the years since War of Magic, and add them to a successful formula.&nbs

I think the stratification issue is the biggest issue facing our society in the next generation. The fundamental issue is that entry-level jobs have a benefit to society, but not the corporations that create them. Therefore, if left up to the free market, the jobs won't be created, or they will go to folks who need more than a minimum-wage job. I'd actually advocate this as a solution: governmental taxes provide a minimal living wage equivalents to a

Kantok: you make good points on education cost. That said, I think some government regulation is necessary to preserve the free market. Free markets either end up in equilibreum or some form of failed market- you need governments to push things towards equilibreum, and to handle externalities. I don't think not wanting to have third-party costs imposed by much more powerful entities that do not have your self-interest in mind at all (At

My issues with inequality and wealth- folks like Brad are the folks who should be encouraged- I just feel the way American society is becming, we'll have fewer Brads. Sometimes help and "handouts" can be good investments. The university Brad went to- going there was a government handout in a sense, public education is subsidized.

AI can't handle it. I feel it's something that should be in the game and the AI should be made to handle it- but it's more important to get everything working sufficiently correctly that is already implemented (fairly close on this)

Economic inequality can at its core lead to an infringement of rights due to lack of market power equality, which is necessary for a free market as well. The social contract cannot exist unless both sides feel like it's at least somewhat of a fair deal.
Legendary Heroes: Elemental Reborn !! Pack all DLC, expansions, and updates onto a steam-free edition of the game!!
That won't happen, as Brad has pretty clearly stated that Steamworks is too beneficial financially (not just for market access, but saving costs on hosting/uploading files) to not use it as he is now. I can understand a decision like that, p

On an individual level, I agree with Brad. On a societal level, I don't. Those who are successful in a society have a responsibility to society. If that responsibility is abrogated en masse, there are consequences, and is a failure of government. It's fair to argue over what those responsibilities are, but a government exists for more then just national defense and property rights.
Galactic Civilizations 3? Star Control? I enjoy Elemental, but not nearly as much as GC2 and Star Control.
This is a concern of mine, though I suspect what you guys have intended for DLC requires less work than full-fledged new game development. Also, I suspect that your future games will be better than the Elemental series, as Elemental had some
Well, I'll toss another nut into the mix. I play a pirated version. Kicker is I've also bought the game + expansion + DLC content because I truly do believe in making sure developers get their money for there hard work and effort. Reason: The pirated version allows me to bypass the crap known only as 'steam'. Does that make me a thief for not playing with the right 'bits' ?

Stardock games the way they are designed just wouldn't work with MP at all, so they shouldn't have MP, as it would be a waste of resources. What are you talking about? How would they not work with multiplayer? Have you played any of the amazing games in this genre that have multiplayer? They work really, REALLY, well.
And those games are designed for MP.&n

I don't want to publicly get into old stuff that is irrelevant to today and rehash things done to death. I'll just say that if I truly felt you were horrible, I wouldn't be here. The various things I heard gave me pause, but I decided to give you benefit of the doubt. I think you're right about how little forums matter in terms of sales. I often wonder how many folks in the industry have secret forum accounts so it doesn't get conn

The downside is, you get folks angry enough , they won't want to buy your products. It's really hard to change the mind of someone who is convinced of your worst. That said, the more successful you become, the harder it is to maintain good PR.

Stardock games the way they are designed just wouldn't work with MP at all, so they shouldn't have MP, as it would be a waste of resources. Hopefully GalCiv III will be designed to work that way. Maybe the GGPO license could work for MP games somehow, I think that license only costs $5,000.

In another forum, Brad mentioned MOO went for 7 digits, as Stardock did that and was out-bid. Personality, I'm kinda glad Stardock didn't get MOO- because MOO would have shunted GalCiv to the side, and I think GalCiv has a lot of potential, especially with Derek and Dave Stern around. I'm really curious to see how GalCiv 3 turns out. That's not to say Stardock wouldn't do a great job, but they already have a very good space game ser

Stardock does so sales themselves, but their future games are going to be Steam-only, because the cost of having two different patching systems wasn't worth it (not enough people didn't use Steam unfortunately) I have some minor issues with the way Stardock has handled the transition from Impulse to Steam- my gripes are as follows: - GalCiv 2 owners who bought the GalCiv 2 game and expansions individually on Impulse didn't get ported o
