This will be interesting to find out today. Kael to me is the most likely candidate, though it could easily be someone else.

Given how Elemental has a more mundane focus then AOW or MOM, ROTK-style tactical battles with magic sprinkled on top might actually work better then copying the approach of MOM or AOW.
ideas. a) Charisma can buff troops, kinda like Bard's skills and leadership in the AOW series, tie it into that? b) Maybe high Charisma scores could give a shot of +1 to move for stacks the leader is in? c) Charisma could help with illusion/charming spells? d) Maybe Charisma could also help buff a city a hero is in, if he is left in the city (production/prestige bonus?) e) Charisma could give a bonus to combat speed for stacks the hero is in also?
Weird idea: allow champions to be attached to units, giving them an extra unit, and maybe a special ability to boot? The other idea I had was giving them classes like Ranger, Thief and Barbarian, bonus hp per level, and special abilities.
I think what you are describing is a byproduct of hyperpartisanship and the decline of moderates in this country since the mid-90's. The real problem is that, just like the Romans, we've turned pandering to the lowest common denominator into an artform.
I really think the people who've stuck through with this so far are ready for new toys, and have put up with enough bugginess that a little more won't bother them.
Elemental in a year's time will be better then Civ 5 in a year's time.
I agree- this should be an open beta to owners. I doubt anyone would want to stay with 1.09
They've been deleting posts outright lately. In many of the cases it's been justified. Overnight those posts were pretty bad.
It does the same for me. No idea why it's doing it, but Steam often does the same thing, so I think it's normal.
Square really has declined in quality since the merger. Then again, most Japanese companies have really declined. Even Capcom has in my eyes, though I've heard good about DR2.
If you're really into something it's hard to know when you need to do the social thing or the family thing. I don't feel that Brad tried to keep hours down just to be humane, but that it's better for business to have your employees not tired and worn out. I'm not some idealist who thinks Brad does these things just because he's a nice person- it truly is a business strategy, and an effective one to have your workers well taken-care of. Ma
One thing I'm curious about- and a possible suggestion. Is Kumquat going to be just in-house, or are you going to try licensing it out? One potential idea: use free Kumquat in a way Valve is using Steamworks to get games on Impulse, maybe even exclusives? (maybe free if exclusive, cheap if you use it to sell on other DD platforms)
Quoting SwerydAss, reply 13 This is because devs pay for the score but usually don't bother to look at the actual review so the reviewer gets away with saying that the game isn't good without losing the advertising dollars from the devs. Evidence? There's no doubt that business interests can play a part on occasion, but this conspiracy that there's a wholesale arrangement between devs/publishers and game reviewers is
I suspect that fix will come not in 1.1 but the expansion. I don't think they're touching warfare/battle all that much until then, but we'll find out next week. It does need to be fixed though.
Nick - non-global mana was the achille's heel of this. Stardock policy: NO manager shall work fewer hours per week than anyone under their management including the CEO. If my guys were working 90 hours a week, I was working 100 hours a week. It was a bedrock principle. You do that for a few months and you'd be surprised at how "good" easier solutions start to look. I find the Elemental launch endlessly fascin
BTW FFXIV did not get a free pass Tridus. It got the same review scores Elemental did, despite probably having more payola. Game apparently is a complete disasterpiece.
Reviewers tend to take a more cursory look at games- and often aren't huge fans of the genre. Players tend to have bought the game, and are often huge fans of the genre, and don't have other deadlines to worry about, so they can see more of the game in depth. Someone I know reviews games for a commercial game mag, and she often has 3-5 games to work one at once- and some of them require legitimate time investments, while others are shovelware. It's hard to g
This leads to a question- why do you need a tech to raze a city? Doesn't make sense to me.
While I don't agree necessarily with the tone of the above post, the main point is entirely correct. I think making SP and MP content be the same, then hearing what the MP folks want or mod would help with SP balance the most. While MP may be a tiny fraction of the community, they do serve an important role.
Question I thought the deadline for getting the 2nd XP free was end of October, not end of September. Correct or not?
That's probably the best idea- just enable the 1.1 betas as beta updates , so anyone who wants in can see. More eyeballs= more chance to get things right down the line. Besides, if people survived the Elemental betas, they can surrive just about anything ^_^
Quoting Kalin, reply 100To be honest I'm starting to wonder more and more about how food is going to be generated now that caravans won't produce them. Are we going to have buildable farms in cities again? I was surprised this took so long in this thread for somebody to mention. Outside of faster travel for troops, what's the point? The two games I've played have been loaded with areas dense in all resources BUT food with only a few hav
Quoting Satrhan, reply 72 Quoting Frogboy, reply 68 Correct. And the scope of both expansions has recently been increased so the first one won't be coming out in 2010 anymore. It'll be clear why next week. That makes me both sad and happy at the same time The changes for v1.1 sound great. Are you still going with the specialist slots btw? The reason for the delay will be really obvious aft
Um, this all sounds great. Wouldn't mind trying the beta 1.1. *shrug*
I'd want in the beta 1.1 also.
