I checked the core difficulties, and it looks fine, 1.0 for normal. But Resoln is in the lead and has 16,000 gold and that seems a bit unlikely.
I agree. I wonder where/how it's getting it. :(

To help encourage modders, we should put up some links to modding resources and popular mods. Use this post to make requests for what should be stickied. Thanks!

We've added a section on WinCustomize.zom where modders can upload and manage their FE mods. If there's sufficient interest (i.e. sufficient content uploaded) we'll integrate the gallery into the game. https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/elemental_fallen_enchantress
I can understand monsters and wildlands moving first, but why keep factions moving separate?
The AI factions move simultaneously. But they have their battles syncrhonously now. It makes the turns take longer but ensures that they're not moving over each other trying to attack one another.

This happens in Civilization as well, once in awhile (barbarians destroy your home city). It's extremely uncommon since there are, literally, checks in the AI to avoid attacking the capital. But the AI will still attack a city if it's in their way to something else and even then, that's extremely rare. I'm sure this is oversimplified,
The OP was playing vs AI that has everything for free times 10000 so this was hardly fair?
The battle boils down to how sharp the tip of the spear vs. how big the club. Bonuses to the AI help make the club bigger. But an AI has a hard time with sharp spears (figuratively). That is, advantages that allow the human player to create a very powerful stack are more valuable than general economic advantages. M

Here's a sample of native language of Elemental (at least, the Amarian related people): Once you understand that everything in the game is a translation, you can choose to have your characters eat whatever they'd like. They're not literally pigs or cows or fish.
why did you change that? I liked it a lot
People were complaining (correctly) that the AI could avoid being attacked by monsters since monsters only move 1 space per turn.

Hi guys, AI guy here. Broadly speaking, in a 1.0 game, our goal is to make the AI as broadly *enjoyable* as possible to the largest segment of players. If that means making the AI more lethal, I would do that. If it means making the AI more passive, I'd do that too. When an AI is young, like the Elemental AI, you have broad stroke algorithms in which the difficulty levels can only really tweak certain behaviors. When an AI gets mature, like in GalCiv II: TA, you can

I spend time on many different forums. Car forums. Political forums. Game forums. Customization forums. Tech forums. Firearms, preppers, Treehugger (well not now, they took it down) you name it. Each forum is different. But the trend I've seen is that we now have a generation and a half of people who have grown up realizing that they can spend most of their social time talking to only like minded people. There are consequences.

There's already a thread regarding the RPS review. I agree with the review's points. However, I don't like my strategy games to be "tight" and "lean". I enjoyed Warlock but if you're ccomparing Warlock to FE as if they're the same type of game then I think one is missing the point. GalCiv II is even "Baggier" than FE. And while the Elemental games will continue to evolve, they're not likely to become less "baggy" or more "lean. If anything, they'll

Thanks for posting. I agree with your view. This is one of the challenges of having a lengthy open beta. Over time, the beta testers get so used to the game that there is a tendency to slowly change the baseline of what is considered "too hard". The monsters, during the beta, were considered "too tame" so we turned them up. In v1.01, we're doing more work so that their behavior is much better controlled by the difficulty levels.

Kitten build is now up. This build has all the EXE changes that have been checked in by the team plus my AI changes plus the perf changes I've been working on. It also should take care of the duplicate call to deleteallchildren (the cause of the crash). https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8051911/FE-10312012-kitten-a.zip
