Without responding to the particulars...why would new players be increasing the difficulty to challenging? The game defaults to Easy. There's two levels below easy. And above challenging, all bets are off. If I could play scary sounds to distract you to help the AI, I would. ;)
Frogboy
I dunno, I haven't looked at the tactical map perf yet.
Swampland shouldn't be settleable. Sometimes, the issue can be as simple as the AI pressing its equivalent of the "Settle" button and the game just letting it work. It should, like it would in the main UI, stop them from doing that. I'll report that to the team. I had to do a lot of work with the outpost stuff because the game would let the AI put outposts down anywhere (for a human, the button would be disabled).
You should see the emails the AI sends about you guys. ;)
Thanks for the kind words! I'll be around all weekend if you have any questions.
You are all set up, sir. Just go to http://download.stardock.com
AH. gotcha. let me set you up.
BTW, never do as the Frog does. My ATI drivers are dated 2011.
At work I have an nVidia card which lets me set all kinds of goodies on the card for games. At home I have an ATI card. I have the ATI Control Center (which uses Stardock DirectSkin btw), but I can't tell where I can set up Vsync and such. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!
Well I'm always around. So when did you buy WOM?
They shouldn't be declaring war on you unless they are less than neutral. I will be looking into this quite a bit for the 1.01 update just to be sure. When you do get this, can you post a picture of what the computer player is saying to you? I'm happy to look at the specific code.
You can also use debug.err to see how often a monster attacks an AI. It logs it. I used that extensively back when I was double checking to make sure the monsters were equal opportunity murderers.. ;)
BTW, I would be delighted to create an AI Spoilers thread or something where we can discuss some of the indepth stuff. But I also don't want to ruin the game for everyone else since it takes some of the magic out.
I look forward to your findings. I remember during the Galactic Civilizations days people always said the AI was "cheating". When a monster chooses to attack A instead of B and you happen to be A, it can feel like you're being ganged up on. I remember playing Total Annihilation FFA, people always thought they were being ganged up on.
Keep in mind, from the AI's point of view, the humans are ruining the game. ;)
Quoting Frogboy, reply 1Monsters don't attack caravans of any player. O come on brad.. They attack mine... I'm not at war withany1.. And I'm losing caravans.. That is why I'm going after those monsters (and the experience ) I'm sorry man but we are talking about diffrent games if your telling me monsters don't attack caravans..
Mons
The easiest path would simply to create a map that suits your playing style.
Monsters don't attack caravans of any player.
Updated again. Mostly Performance improvements again. On my test box I got a late game from 22fps to 45fps Cloth map perf improved too.
quoting post + AI more careful about going on difficult quests I hope this is not going to be the only fix to the issue of AIs being able to perform hard quests too early. They need to be able to do the quests at realistic power levels. To me it would be better if the AI didn't make a roll at all with the quests; rather, the AI would automatically succeed in a quest when it has a strong enough army and attem
I modded the AI diplomacy to only gank on the opposite side of the fence. So Altar for instance, would never attack Pariden for being weak. But Yithril will. Like to see that in the vanilla.
What did you tweak to do that?
atter the AI will join a war against you no matter how good your relations are. Diplomacy is borked.
That is not true. They won't go after you unless their relations with you are neutral or less. Also, World Difficulty above challenging means the monsters will go after you more than the AI. World Difficulty less than challenging means the monsters will go after the AI more than you.
Just updated it with a new build that does eve more perf.
What world difficulty are you playiing at? If you're playing on easy world difficulty, the monsters won't attack cities. At all.
frogboy, are you trying to mod xcom into the game, you naughty frog.
Every time I load up XCOM and see that smooth rotating logo when it's loading I cry. DirectX 11 is...so wonderful. With DirectX 11, your threads can call the GPU.
