My son's Ghecko died today. As much as I love pets, when they pass on it's pretty upsetting.

Greetings! Memory is remembered Last week we discussed that we really wanted Legendary Heroes to support 32-bit for the new "Huge" size maps but the current FE/LH builds couldn't do it. So I agreed to spend the weekend going through the code to see what I could optimize. I'm pleased to say that enough optimization was done that LH users will be able to play on the new huge maps. But if you play it on a 32-bit machine, it'll pop up a w
Re "Hitler was an atheist" Since we're not going to agree on whether he was or not and it's not a central point to any side's position on the role of religion/atheism to human suffering then put him aside - Stalin and Mao are indisputably atheists. Human beings do terrible things to other human beings in the name of their ideology. That ideology might take the form of a religion or an ism but it isn't fair to blame traditional religion for the bad dee
Everyone always thinks Hitler was an atheist for some reason...probably because they want to paint atheists with the broad brush of evil. Well I would say religion has done way more evil crap than all the world's atheists combined. But that's all I want to say about that.
Hitler was an atheist, at least in the sense that he was most certainly not a Christian and there was plenty of evidence that he wished to purge Germany of all traces of Chri
This post itself is very helpful. Any time is crashes, we get a report and then QA is able to find the actual line of code it goes into. If you'd like, if you post your saved game where it happens, I'll try it out. I'm working on optimizing memory this weekend which uses a saved game anyway so I could try killing to birds with one stone.
Another example of Windows 8 suck: I want a quick way to drag and drop a document into an email or onto a Skype (a Microsoft app) conversation from the Start screen. How do you do this? With Windows 7 (or with Start8) I type the name of the file and then drag and drop it.

This is one of the most relevant questions on the survey. As an economics student you hopefully will come to realize that. It's the fundamental question in central banking and the core tension between Keynes and Friedman or, more broadly, between the left and r
Actually that's very very helpful.
Whatever happened to that statement Brad made about "Gamers Bill of Rights"? I thought he was highly against sites like Steam? When did he turn Benedict Arnold?
The Gamers Bill of Rights was designed as a bulwark against intrusive copy protection (like CDs being in the drive or root kits being installed to monitor what programs you had). The market has decided on Steam. I remember getting simila
Just an update: We looked at the hardware config of those experience the tutorial hang and were able to reproduce it (requires video card + CPU core combo) inconsistently but were then able to figure out a way to code that part of the tutorial to do it in a different want. We should have an update out within 48 hours. In the meantime, for those of you learning the game you can also check out the tutorial I did awhile back: http://youtu.be/rJtg4SJiKjc[/vide
They're checking it out. One of the upgrades we have done on the game is that whenever there is a crash, it will send us the hardware config (like Windows error reporter) so we can look at the video driver / card combo and see what the deal is. And since we live in the age of digital distribution, we can update the game quickly if there's a workaround. The challenge is just trying to get the right hardware set up to reproduce it.
Yep. FE will continue to exist and be updated.
The Beta for LH will be starting in about a week and will be available to anyone who pre-orders it or anyone who purchased WOM before November 1, 2010.
Looks amazing!
The worst trolls I've seen are the ones who get into politics. It's easy to say "just ignore them" when you've never experienced it. Some of the stuff I've seen political bloggers go through is downright scary. Comment trollers are pretty minor. But people increasingly work themselves up to do nastier things, all of which is legal. In the politics blogs there's a term called Swating. It's where a troll cals 911 and tells them their target is
Good point. Personally moderating our forums was a big mistake for me in hindsight. Those banned people never forget and are the first to light fires at the slightest opportunity when they find a encourages that encourages or at least supports those kinds of people.
Might have still been uploading. I just looked and it's 9 minutes.
It's the craptitude of DirectX 9 and the UAC me thinks. I've gotten this error and it almost always happens when a security prompt comes up. Some video cards lose the device when this happens and it's not consistent. We've wrestled with this from time to time going back to GalCiv I.
I think he was being facetious.
Why can't you get it?
How come Tom Chick is playing the beta and we're not? Srsly. Having paid for the original Elemental's Collector's Edition (I placed a great deal of faith in you guys), I was kinda hoping that we'd get early access if other people are, too.
You can download the beta of 1.291 right now.
I consider it a bug. Will look into it.
