Good feedback! I have a few questions regarding your Spellbook UI: The main concern I have has to do with accessing spells readily. I don't want to, in the middle of a battle, open a virtual bookshelf, pick a book, and then pick a spell. That's too many clicks. Similarly, even if it was just one book but with different tabs for different spellbooks you could end up with a scenario where players are having to do a lot of clicking. Great feedback! Re Technology Trees and what to expect as we move towards release: Civilization Tech Trees will continue to focus on things that improve your city. We're slowly migrating towards a system where certain buildings will require food to maintain (to feed the people working in them). In addition, we are looking to incorporate more maintainence related costs into this area. Warfare. For those who like the city building, the civ tech feels the b

Also, we have a command Ctrl-Shift-M that will dump to your debug.err all the objects in the game. We can look at that for things that look out of line.
Well don't worry too much about Fable 2 taking up your time, you'll get through it in about 5 hours. =P terrible game. Even Peter himself was recently quoted that he thought it was actually crap. Elemental is coming along nicely. It's still a beta and we still have a month to go. It was 100 times worse than it is now a month ago, alot can change. Well, you cou
Hey Frogster, I got a thought. How about compiling all this into a PDF file with pics and explanations for us to download? Maybe include some of the posts Folcik has made as well and a few other posts in the modding section of the forums. It would be great as a "Beginners Guide". Also include a list of the locations of relevant files that are the most common that people will be modding.
Knock yourself out. :) I t

There is a user manual that comes with the betas. If you double click from Impulse, one of the options is to open the manual. Also, at the top right is the ? icon which gives links to various help topics (which will get a lot more attentions before release). We absolutely agree that the game should lead the player more. But that is not the purpose of the beta program. Those are the kinds of finishing touches that are left to the end.

Could you post your debug.err so we could look at your system specs? At this point, the video performance is pretty close to final. Did you try lowering the resolution?

Thanks. We're having a devil of a time on this one. Something seems to trigger a massive leak and we're not sure what it is yet.

Indeed. Something is triggering it. I think you can hit Ctrl-Shift-M and it will print to your debug.err all the objects that have multiple references to them and add up the memory. Another thing I was thinking about is whether it's a settings issue. Did you guys change your options from the defaults? Could you post your prefs.ini (same place as debug.err). Thanks.
Quoting Spitz, reply 20I share your concerns, but. . . since the game is now irreversibly committed to the release date, the most productive use of our time, typing, thought and effort at this point is to help make the game better through suggestions, constructive feedback and bughunting. its what i am doing and most of other users taking 2 min to express our concern isnt really af

I'm sorry you joined a beta program expecting to play some sort of demo version of the released game. As people who have been in the beta can attest to, the game can change pretty radically from week to week. It would be far more constructive to give your suggestions and feedback in a way that allows us to evaluate it and see which parts make sense to be implemented. Nearly every complaint in this thread is something on our list to address prior to release.

0.98 is the latest update. You can mouse over it to make sure you have 0.92.085. I'll see about getting them to rename it 0.98a tomorrow to help eliminate confusion.
