General Comments: We're going to have the AI take over the respawning of NPCs. Right now, all the NPCs that will ever come into the world are reserved at the very start with a very specific location. The idea was to let there be "rumors" of various high level people. The problem is, during the course of the game, many of these locations become occupied by cities and what not and thus they don't spawn. So we'll switch this to the NPC AI manager spawning them instead. S

We still support our OS/2 customers from prior to MoM being released (we've been around quite a long time).

So far, has anyone who has run into this NOT been running 64-bit Windows? Every debug.err seems to be Windows 64. Now, I run 64-bit Windows and I don't run into it but I have yet to look at a debug.err that isn't 64-bit Windows.

The game just freezes..scrolling in and out is horrible and it drags real bad....so this is the best it will get on my PC ? I run sims3 and it runs pretty good.
It probably runs many new programs fine. Typically, 3 years is a decent run for a PC. After that, it's starting to get

It's not something that happens to everyone. That's what is making it difficult. I can play, literally, thousands of turns. We're starting to think it's sound related.
I've been running it without sound, and so far it hasn't crashed, but memory is still going up. However, I finally noticed that one of my cities is missing. I KNOW I had 3 cities, and now it's only 2. Like it never existed. Weird. EDIT: Doh! I just realized I had a tac battle with some brigands and lost...I guess that was for the city. After zooming in, I saw the rubble.
The bastards!

It should definitely be better on a 7600 GT. Even that card is over 4 years old. It all depends on your threshold of pain. I run it on my 3 year old laptop (ThinkPad T400 no problem) but I am always careful to run at 1024x768 with anti-aliasing turned off.

Yea, there's the issue. First, your drivers are 5 years old. Update them and that might help. Second, and this isn't really fixable, your video card may actually be below the minimum specs for the game. I think the Geforce 6800 is the absolute minimum. You should still be able to play in cloth map without a problem though.

As I described above, I've seen it creep 70 MB in the middle of a turn while not doing anything (not moving the display, nothing).
Was it saving the game? It'll jump a lot during a save game and then it should come back down after saving.

Okay, one other idea I have, could you try playing with NO sound whatsoever. I.e. turn off all sound options in the game and see if that affects memory.
Not a huge leak, but I drove the memory usage from 756M to 762M just by zooming out to the cloth map and zooming back in, over and over and over, never advancing the turn.
That's actually not a leak. It's just caching the objects.

Here are some questions: #1 How often are you doing auto-saves? #2 Are you getting into a lot of tactical battles? #3 Are you seeing the memory jump 5+ megs for no reason between turns?

Here's the public Sins of a Solar Empire mod area: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/sins_maps Mod handling in Elemental will mostly be done in game. But we plan to have a public version on WinCustomize as well.

There is a nasty memory leak that we're having a heck of a time tracking down. It doesn't happen consistently and in fact, it doesn't happen to us at all. Here is what we need: 1. If have experienced out of memory problems, low the game resolution and run the game in a window so that you can bring up that task manager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc). 2. On the Processes list, you should see Elemental. Its memory should start at around 600MB and, over the course of

Yea the memory issue is our #1 priority at this point. It's a show stopper. We need everything you can give us. Here's how you can help: Play the game in a window, open up the task manager and watch Elemental's memory use. Try to see WHEN it goes up.
