It routinely leaves individual units within an army stack with 0 hit points, but the unit does not disappear from the stack. During battle afterwards, the units are present with 0 hit points and fight until they take any damage.
On world map:
In battle:
I noticed this too. If the intention is to prevent strategic spells from actually killing a unit, please make them have 1hp left. It is very odd to look at.
Yeah. One way or another it has to be a bug. Either the units with 0 should be gone, or they should be at 1.
Yeah, you are right, they actually have fractional hit points left (0.5 or some such). We need to round that up, let me check it out. Thanks for the report.
I had this bug as well. But then I also caster Freeze on the same stack and all the 0 HP units got removed although Freeze does not do any damage.
Another problem is that if i cast a spell on a unit that has 3 soldiers and kills 2 of soldiers, so the unit has now 1 soldier left with couple hp it is not reflected on a world map. It will still show one unit with 3 soldiers, not one.
The original bug reported here still exists in .86
On further exploration I've figured out that if any individual units in an army still have hit points left, all the units remain, including the ones with 0 hit points. However if the spell drops every unit to 0, then the army properly disappears.
