What happened to the game being improved? I decided to give the game another shot with the latest update. Not really much difference than when it first came out performance wise.
The AI spams ogre units that kill any unit every three turns of tactical combat in one shot with savage blow. See bow entry below.
Archery still so far up the technologoy tree it is useless. Seriously who wants to wait acouple hundred of turns before they can make a ranged unit? Yes, I know crude bow is sooner but the accuracy is so horrible or the damage is blocked so many times you wasted resources making the unit. Ever hear of this new invention called a sling? I hear some guy named Davey was famous for it.
The mouse cursor and map interface still sucks ass. About once every five to ten minutes a unit gets sent in the entirely wrong direction because the cursor to map interface sucks. Rotating the map to get a "better view" results in increasing the amount of errors.
Had a game "mysteriously" bankrupted. I loaded a save and found myself over 20,000 in debt.
Still a large number of blank unbuildable squares. Would be nice to be able to see these BEFORE building a city that you can only place a couple buildings in it until you the invisible quest squares are cleared.
Still no decent overview of your cites. Have to go through each city individual to find out their production values. Something that is basic strategy game 101 for other games.
Heal spells still useless. Seriously what is the point in a 6 point heal when units do more damage than that on average.
Regeneration spell just stops working randomly.
Horses and wolves still too random, either feast or famine. Gets real old seeing four wolf resource squares, yet no horses.
Stacked units bugged. Two caravan units and one combat stack unit occupying the same square. Yet the AI still is able to kill off the the caravan units. Nevermind the fact I did not want them as seperate stacks.
Pathfinding needs GPS system. Pathfinding is so unreliable you have to do it manually if you want it done right, or done at all. The best was a caravan using pathfinding to get to another city then I receive a message it can not find a path home.
Reloading to an autosave does not exist. You reload the game instead, because if you try loading a game it crashes 75% of the time. Does not sound like much, but when you are plagued with the previous problems which cause constant reloads it does become a problem.
Speaking of autosaves. The autosave system is still "off." I have seen the game go back to an autosave but units had still moved or tech points still moved.
The new quests and the one building per level of city were an improvement to streamlining. Would much rather have a working pathfinding system and a cursor interface that does not suck though.
That is over a dozen issues. Some of which have been that way since release. Off to play something that works.
