Starting location question

Every single time I start a game (no matter what the size of the map) the AI always starts right by me. Will there be a way for the AI's be more spread out? I think this would be especially cool with AI's have the capability of starting on diff continents than you. To clarify, I don't want to have to mod it in, just wondering it will be an option at some point?

I hope so! Thanks for the response.

I think that's just the luck of the draw. Sometimes I have been able to build 6-7 cities before sharing a border with another nation.

Otoh, why not simply claim your neighbor's land if you need lebensraum?

Just to give an example, on a lark I started a large world with 6 Civs.... and all of them were right on top of me. Tried again, Large world 4 civs... all four in a big circle around me.

It's a bit irritating.

wierd I do 9 civ larges and the current one I have just meet my first ai civ. almost 300 turns into game. Though 1 suicided on a minor city (kraxis), one died to wandering monsters (Tarth), and the other one it notified me had died had a vague wierd description so I dont know what killed Capitar.

Did you load an existing map from that load screen before starting a new game?

I'm starting to get to the feeling that if you a load a map in, the AI is a bit more spread out which helps, however, I've only tried it with one map (Real Big Map map, that's in the mod library), so gotta test it with more maps, but still need to finish this game, as I'm over 250 turns in, and might as well see it through :)

Let me see if you translate you CapnWinky.

You want to express there to be more setup options so that you can choose to have players start consistently far apart (or not consistently far apart)?

That is a great idea.   You should totally pop that into the 'idea' section.  :P     I personally map generation options, and you should encourage it.

Perhaps this depends on the "difficulty" level of the map, or perhaps the pacing?

My first game at easy map difficulty and epic pacing had the other factions far away.

My last game at challenging map difficulty and fast pacing has all the other faction VERY close and only neutral cities far away.

Always play normal and medium, sometimes large.

To me it is like 65% close 35% crazy empty space with some resources  (>O___O)

When many AI are close, I love it when I find a golem token and etc >.>;
