Doc, what's the matter with people having freedom?  I am hoping I misread you by thinking, you believe these types of things should not even be on the market and/ or regulated because, we as human being (being so stupid and all).  Cannot we just have a little fun?

The process of natural selection will take care of everything, intellectual and accidental.  Our risks in life should be determined by ourselves.

By that logic DrJBHL I guess I should lock my door and lay in bed till I die! I said I want one , there are many things I want , but will never have. I want to fly in a spacecraft, drive a F1 race car and fly an F22 Raptor all of things that will never happen! All of which can kill you dead , with no risk ,there is no reward.

Hyperbole it may be Doc ,but it is true! Another thing that is risky is any surgery that involves a general anesthetic, granted the risk are mitigated in a hospital setting but you still sign a document that stipulates the risk have been explained and you understand that you may die in the process. My point was that there is risk of death or sever disfigurement just walking out of your door, but people do it every day and not just for fun, the act of eating carries risk but we still do it! Here is a joke to lighten the mood! What is the difference between doctors and God, God doesn't believe he is a doctor .

Seeing the damage one of these little suckers can inflict, I'm with Doc on this one.   Put one in the hands of somebody juvenile or unstable and you're just asking for trouble.  Yup, positively dangerous and not a good idea, so yeah, I can see these being next on law enforcement's list of concealable weapons.

Besides, one (or several) would be no good to me, even to get rid of those pesky squirrels (possums).  Mother always told me never to play with matches.

The CIA has had moles for years and can't get rid of 'em.   Kill one and a couple more recruits come to take his/her place.

I think I'd rather moles ruining my lawn than bull ants, though.  Once you have those it's real hard to get rid of them - poison off one nest and they just pop up in another location not far away - and the bastards have a bite like all buggery if you stand still for half a second.

Sorry to get this off topic a bit, but...

I used to use a plunger type trap, but man alive, I ordered a Wiretek Easy Eliminator online.  Best dang purchase I've made in years.   I have killed about 8 moles this spring/summer and it's the easiest mole trap I have ever used.  Those plunger type traps are a pain in the ass to set; all you do for this one is set in on the ground, step on it, and leave it alone until the mole sets it off.   And, yes, they will just tear the crap out of a yard and or garden.  I have found that you have to kill them early on in the spring, that is when the little buggers like to get their moley freak on and make more moles.
