In this savegame http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/beta2_dead_levelling/dead_level_up.EleSav Lord relias, Arvix and Cuessusaa are next to a troll. If you engage the fight with the troll and win, Arvix will level up after the battle, even if he has been slained by the troll.
Had this happen to me once too. My guess would be that it checks for death after the level up screen.
yes it seems to happen only when the group wins
I have the same situation.
Also you can level up even when your units win and you are somewhere else on the map.
I get XP if someone in my faction wins a fight?
I just had it happen to me. It looked like after I put the points into health the unit was still around, even though the battle report said they took lethal damage.
