It's that time of week where it's time to talk about how we spent our time during the week! ;) Since March is looming which means our work on the Beta will have to wrap up pretty soon, I spent most of my week trying to finalize some important GFX, as well as look forward to future graphical related projects! <a target="_blank" h

Well, I forgot to post another Journal last week and got the "Disappointed Glare" from Brad, so I'm going to make sure never to forget again by lowering my standards! From now one, I'll only be showing the top 3 images of the week...not because it's less work, I just want to make sure to keep some surprises in store for the players. :) <A hre

Since I suppose you need MULTIPLE installments of a series comparing weekly progress of a game...here's week #2 of 'Best GalCiv2 Week Ever'! The last few months we've been busy getting a playable version for Brad that could be taken on a "Media Preview Blitz" at the end of January. Since

When it comes to the bonus icons being colored, anything is possible at this stage of the game, but I fear that colored icons won't 'pop' the way the black-and-white ones do. Keep in mind you'll also be looking at the icons when improvements have been built on the tile, so too much color may cause the two to confilct. Like I said, though, I'm always up for making things better, so we can play around with some colors and see what works <img s

Make sure you've updated the game with the patch (https://www.politicalmachine.com/Download_Update.asp). The problem you're probably experiencing was fixed in the first patch, where the Campaign games were'nt saving as "Campaign Games", so if you reloaded a Campaign game and beat the opponent, it wouldn't advance your campaign status. Hope this helps!
I tend to side with the Idea that simple = fun. When trying to make a game for a mass audience, you have to take into account the amount of "learning commitment" the average player will withstand before they start to find the game boring. It's one thing to get players to learn how to create a colony ship, land on a suitable planet, and properly build it into a thriving world. The learning process compounds as you have variations of planet
I don't think we're going to differenciate the worth of a planet based on the race. Mostly with the player being able to play as the different races this time around, I think this sort of complexity will just make things more complicated then they need to be (ex. What happens if youre at war with the Water Race, you invade their planet and suddenly you have a worthless colony on your hands) Also, switching between races meens the player wou
