Solitair: An interesting point. I don't know if we're going to deal with that sort of situation (If its a class 10 or below to start off with every improvement has a dome over it) or if were going to actually have different types of atosphere the player will have to deal with. My initial concern is that it'll add realism, but it'll just make it more of a Pain to start a colony on dumpier planets, but we'll chat about it in an upcoming meetin

Thanks Guys! Even though the Alpha won't be released for a few months, we still want to start getting player feedback ASAP. I mean, we may be making the game, but you'll be the ones playing it If we ever bring up a game mechanic that you think will detract from the enjoyment of the game, please feel free to call us out on it. Or, if you have a wa

With the other developers making comments on the game design and code explanations, I'm going to use this time to give a synopsis of GalCiv2's progress in a Visual Segment I'd like to call "Best GalCiv2 Week Ever!", where I pick the top 5 images that best show how Galactic Civilizations 2 is progressed this week. <a href=

The 'Tutorial' campain is included in the 'Multiplayer Scenerios' module in Stardock Central. It's on out list of things to fix, but for now downloading those scenerios will get you the necessary tutorial.

Here's the official list of changes to make in the 'prefs' file for the textures to automaticall re-generate upon game-start. ForceTextureUpdate=1 DeviceType=1 BehaviorFlags=68 note: You'll want to save a version with the old values as well if this dosent fixt the problem. Otherwise the textures will regenerate each time the game starts (which results in a longer load time <img src="../images/smiles/mad.gif" border=0 ALIGN="

Enkydu, In addition to the tech support email, could you post your problem here (if you havn't already) to see if other players have found a solution to your issue? Also, are you playing the Retail CD version (with or without the 1.01 patch) or are you playing off TotalGaming.Net? In the meentime we'll be working to get these problems fixed (and I assure you, none of us have been writing 'phony' reviews <img src="../images/smiles/j

Sorry about the inconvenience...we're looking into possible causes at the moment. Could you post your system specs, and in the meantime, set the "ForceTextureUpdate" tag in the "Prefs.ini" file to "True". This will recalculate the textures (which may be the source of the problem).

You need to make a 211x256 PNG image of yourself, then plop it in the "politicalmachine/gfx/candidate_images/" folder. Then, next time you start the game, you can create a custom candidate with your likeness in the game! Note: To ensure a female candidate uses a female icon on the map screen, start the filename with the word "Female".

Unfourtunatly you can only start Advertisements in the state you're currently visiting...otherwise there was some major cheese going on with players flinging ads across the country (from one solitary location) in the last few turns.

This is an overall score of how your candidate is doing in that state. Think of it as his score...if you start dropping, it meens you did something wrong (or the otehrguy did something right)

The interview button, and state-by-state interviews, that're mentoned in the manual were removed late in development but not removed from the manual. Interviews now occour between 3-5 times (randomly) per game, and will appear as television cameras in the state they're taking place in. Find the one that belongs to your candidate and fly him/her there to get onto the interview.

If you're loading a saved game from 1.0 in your 1.01 build it'll still give you that bug. You'll have to start a new game in 1.01 for the correct data to be included in the saved game file.

1) This was a miscalculation on our part. All games played by us in the office lasted 45 minutes or less. We felt saved games would just end up being a silly feature to put in (think putting samed games in Tetris). What we discovered after release, however, was that players would take 1 to 3 hours per game, calculating each turn with complete persision (which we lack the paticence for). So, in the upcoming Ubisoft patch players will get the ability

Unfourtunatly there's a bug in the retail box that dosent remember autosave games as campaign games. If youre working your way through ladder mode, make sure to finish eash round in one sitting, otherwise your hard work will be for naught This will be fixed in Ubisoft's upcoming patch.

The bug you speak of has been fixed, and the patch is currently going through QA over at UbiSoft and should be available shortly. Our contract lays out a solid path for how patched should be delt with, which we're following as swiftly as time allows. My appologies for the autosave inconvenince though, I kjnow they're a PITA

Still being play-tested over at UBISoft. And yeah, most of the stores I've been to in South-East Michigan have had the game in stock for 20 bucks, so if you're itching to play it'd definatly be faster just to go buy it...unless they put out the demo today, of course

One of the guys here in the office had a widesceen Toshiba laptop that we'd test the game on quite reqularly, which would stretch to fix the window, but play fine otherwise. Try setting your res to 1024x768 (of the nearest widescreen alternative) and running the game with the 'w' paramater (for windowed mode). Lets see if that gets the game running.

It was a map-display choice. With all the icons that could be displayed on a state, we had to make "Extended" versions of the smaller New England states. These are all on the coast, where-as WashingtonDC is inland, making it tough to make an extended version that makes sence to the user. It just made more sense to roll those electoral votes into Maryland and make the process easier </f
