DaWebMassa: It would probably be trivial for someone with a port scanner to see what info they're collecting. And activiation happens so fast, it's extremely unlikely they're collecting much if anything from the registry. Also, given the consequences that could result from such devious actions, I doubt very much if they'd want to take the risk. For what purpose? I'll just file this next to all the other unfounded conspiracy theories.

DaWebMassa: With all due respect, MS couldn't care less what hardware is on your system. And even if they did, they wouldn't know it's YOUR system. It's simply a verification system to make sure that when you buy their product it's only used on one computer. I don't like it either, but not because I'm worried about MS knowing what hardware is on my system. It's not like someone at MS is saying, "Look at Tarkus -- he has an Iomega CD burner, a Microtek scanner and an HP DeskJet. W

There are some legitimate concerns about WPA, but I don't think privacy is one of them. People who love to constantly tinker with their hardware are likely to run into problems (even with the relaxed rules). People who have two or more computers are going to hate it. While technically, it could be considered piracy to install it on two home computers, even though only one is used at a time, I think most people would consider this fair use. CygnusXII: This will get rid of the Low Disk Space warnings: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer NoLowDiskSpaceChecks REG_DWORD 1 hoverboy: I don't believe WPA is fully enabled in the betas. In fact, MS has said they don't care how many machines you put the betas on. So I wouldn't put too much stock in how it's working now.

RobbieRobb: No, I don't think so. I think IE stores FavIcons in the cache and they get purged along with everything else. I just run FavOrg when I notice some FavIcons gone or if I haven't ran it in awhile, and that does the trick.

I started out on an Atari VCS (wasn't even a 2600 yet). Thought the 400 and 800 were cool, but too pricey. When the 800XL came out, I jumped on it. I did bookmark the root, and still didn't get a FavIcon. I even ran it through FavOrg and it didn't find one, either. Okay, just ran it through FavOrg again, and this time it got it. Must have had a hiccup last night when I tried it. Pretty cool icon.

The cure is actually don't execute unknown attachments. Why is everyone always looking for something to save them from themselves? I've gotten a couple of these. Ran them through IPE, more out of curiosity than anything else. And then I deleted them. No big deal. I wouldn't have executed them even if IPE found them to be completely clean. Serge: Yes, it's specific to WXP. Make sure you have the WXP firewall enabled if you're going to use ZA. That's the only way you'll get inbound protection until ZL fixes it.

Serge: If you're using the free version of Zone Alarm, you're still using the MS firewall. That or you don't have any inbound protection, because that's broken in ZA. (Confirmed by Zone Labs.)
