Beta has not started yet. So if you pre-order before PAX (Sep. 4th - 6th) you should be save. The netcode should not be as big as a problem as with Demigod since it will be client2server only. But your dedication is probably welcome anyway. ;) And welcome to the world of fantasy TBS. :D
Will this US version be any different from the version released in Europe?
No more than the localisation (if at all). For example I bought the boxed version of Sins of a Solar Empire in Germany but didn't bother to install from the disc. Instead I downloaded the whole game after registering the serial number with Impulse. Even then I could have chosen to install the german version but chose the english one instead. Stardock plays quite nice when it comes to regi
Can I change the address to which the game is sent at a later date?
Although I lack definite authority on this subject but regarding the practices of Stardock in the past I would assume that a mail to before the game is released would do the trick. As for the billing adress be aware that you will be charged for the preorder in order to get access to the beta..
Of course I can save for it, bt I feel that it is not entirely fair to let me pay so much for shipping. Why should I not be allowed to pick up a box in Holland and still pre-order?
You should ask yourself "Do I really need the box?". If yes. You always have the option to pre-order and then pick up the boxed version in Holland after it goes into retail. I bet Stardock would have no objections to selling two copies. ;) But you always could give the disc and
Best screenshot yet in my opinion. Even if it's just a mockup.
You think that's a mockup you're seeing? ... hmm, interesting... But on a more serious note: Brad stated that clothmap only for the beta is to concentrate the testing on the gameplay mechanics, not on the eye-candy. But just because the beta will be clothmap only doesn't mean they have no ingame detailed graphics for their internal builds. That way they would have as muc
So... what your really saying is your in the Alpha, right?
It would only seem fair to assume that Stardock employees are eligible for an Alpha slot. Although I don't think they would have to sign a NDA. ;)
I should have called this my "MoO 3" survey.
There is no such thing as MoO3. I hope Stardock will make it someday. [e digicons];P[/e] Anyway: nice survey as usual.
I just realized: One of the screenshots displays a spell called "bridge building"
Wow, if that is a spell I graduated in magic (known in our world as civil engineering). :D
Am I the only one who was excited to see an email from stardock for the split second it took me to realize it was just the weekend impulse buys?
Yeah, I got that mail too and was very disappoited that it didn't have to do with the alpha... ah well... all will be good when beta starts. Is it just me or do all the rules sound like phrases from a fortune cookie? [e digicons]:-"[/e]
MoM had really powerful units and spells. It completely ruined balance but that was OK in the endgame. Wiping a struggeling player from the map could be done in a relatively fast way. Variety was a really strong point of MoM. Depending on the combination of race and ability picks each game played quite differently and made different strategies viable. But the best point of MoM I loved was this: Although MoM had a lousy AI it had something that other strategy games during that
Undead armies are a dying breed.
That sentence is wrong in so many ways. ;) But I agree on your notion that to earn the status of Really Evil Overlord you need some kind of mind controll - or even "worse" just corporeal controll. It would do some nasty stuff to your mind if you had to watch your body do terrible things. And to add insult to injury let them carry banners with slogans like "You don't need to be dead to be in my army but it helps". [e digi
I don't think that anybody likes this minimalistic rudimentary cartoon style of graphics.
You may not like the style but I can assure you that you are wrong in your assumption that your notion is shared with everyone here.
Taken. Good answers, by the way.
It all depends on what the basic spells for life/death magic are and how spell research is going to work. If you can specialize in spells from one element AND are not limited in research by the number of shards you have in each element AND it is a viable path to have just the basic life/death spells then it would be not much different from the MOM system. Just imagine that you get one free spellbook in either life or death magic. But then again it might be nice that your research is d

Looks almost indistinguishable from MOM, AOW, HOMM, KB, etc.
I admire your ability to tell that from just one screenshot. [e digicons];P[/e]
For a peek at the time and effort it takes to make a cloth map icon (time-lapse) check out the Elemental twitter: http://twitter.com/TeamElemental
Really nice stuff. I could just watch these for hours. Maybe I should play them plack slower... ;)
I read that if you pre order elemental you can get a playable beta version any truth to that?
Take note that you will be charged when you get into the beta though. So it's not so good for checking whether you will like the game but for participating when you are sure that you'll buy it anyway.
I like tactical combat - especially in a fantasy setting. What good are fantasic creatures if they can't show off on the battlefield? [e digicons]:troll:[/e]
I'm still disappointed it made it into Elemental.
I'm looking very much forward to tactical combat. If you don't like that you can always use auto-resolve or play Fall from Heaven 2. ;)
Either way drinks should be appreciated. ;)
You could create some basic profiles for various races (courageous warriors, peaceful magicians, evil tyrant, enterprising merchant, etc) that people will be able to pick from in addition to this more basic screen, if they just want to make something new but don't care to dig in all the various properties. These profiles would be linked to different settings in the "advanced" customization window, where you could go in and tweak everything that ca
Yes I want squares in the tac combat Map just like MOM. I want the game to look every bit as much like MOM as possible without infringing on copyright. I want the ultimate spiritual successor to MOM that this game could ever be.
You do realize that this IS Elemental, not MOM 2. So don't get your hopes up to high if you are looking for (just) that. You probably will have to wait until someones creates the mod you want.
Looks like a goblin if you ask me but in the video they called it Sandstalker.
