I thought that too, but noticed that some of the included, storied Sovereigns have attributes as high as 19.
What is the point of having storied sovereigns if you can create custom sovereign with the same attributes?
if I read correctly, this
Prestige = Base Prestige – Turns Rationing has occurred. Negative prestige capped at no greater than 10% of a city’s current population
and
Prestige exists to control how fast population grows and to control influence and to affect neighboring enemy cities in a way that is simple and intuitive (why are my people visually leaving Arnete for Vilos? Because Vilos has a prestige of 8 and Arnete a prestige
Looks like a problem of rounding
Well, you could try to edit manually the prefs.ini file to change some settings: run in windowed, remove some video effects (like anti-aliasing and various GFX settings). That may help you if you are unable to access the option screens.
BTW, when all of these crash occurs, I have planned road to be build with the road master bonus (that isn't working)
And here is a new one http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/1z2_ctd_end_turn3/Elemental0_3-2010-04-15T23-02-30-406.zip
As I know that the devs love CTD reports, here is another I have experienced when clicking next turn debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/1z2_ctd_end_turn2/debug.err dump http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/1z2_ctd_end_turn2/Elemental0_3-2010-04-15T22-45-14-578.zip
I got a crash when clicking on next turn: the button was greyed a bit longer then I got a CTD debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/1z2_ctd_end_turn/debug.err dump http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/1z2_ctd_end_turn/Elemental0_3-2010-04-15T22-26-33-125.zip The previous turn I conquered a Gilden
When choosing the Hardy trait for the sovereign, I don't see any increase in the sovereign HP
When creating a custom sovereign, you can add a shield that will increase your defense by 3 without any cost.
Looks like the update is available on impulse ....
I find it a bit odd that they specifically make mention of new races being put into Armored Princess if the player can't actually play as that race.
The races refer to the race of the units you can enlist in your army.
Just wondering if quests will support multiple outcomes in this game? For example maybe you get a quest to retrieve a stolen magical artifact, and upon retrieving it you might have a choice of who you wish to give it to, or keep it for yourself, etc?
Unless I am mistaken, you have choices with the quests "strange noise" and the "Damsel in distress" on the outcome of the quest after you have taken it.
I made my decision to pre-order last Friday. What I am wondering is if there's still a chance that I can participate in the beta?

The beta will close to new members tomorrow afternoon.
If you have preordered last friday, you should be able to have already access to the beta. Have you opened Impulse and enabled the "show pre-release version" ?
Retreat button is now Cancel button, only available to attacker.
I guess this means we will no longer be able to avoid fights initiated by trolls ...
Well, others forums with this feature are generally PHP based, which isn't the case of this one. There is at least one advantage of the current system: you know what is the time at Stardock ;)
in the beta 1Z change log:
Changed how the combat rating is calculated, it is now attack + defense + speed + sqrt(hitpoints).
I was in the city zoom build mode. I have selected a study and added to the build queue. then I got a CTD debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/1z1_ctd_build2/debug.err dump http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5057853/1z1_ctd_build2/Elemental0_299-2010-04-14T23-05-40-62.zip
I have checked the info card for the book of dexterity. In the bottom, for my supercombatant sovereign with 20 Dex, it tolds me that it will increase my movement by one.
The battle rating, which is currently calculated as ATK + DEF + sqrt(HP) + CS is misleading. I have done some experiences. Here are the results I have found. The stats are given in the following order: HP/ATK/DEF/CS/displayed battle rating combat 1 : sovereign (40/10/12/1.3/29) versus spider (30/7/0/1/13). Sovereign victorious on turn 5 with 32 HP left combat 2: sovereign (32/10/12/1.3/28) versus bandit (10/5/0/1.3/18) and eben wolf (250/4/0/1/9). Sovereign vi
I'm looking at the pop-up text for DEF which shows how DEF is calculated.
when your mouse is over the ovjet, an info-card is displayed on the right of the screen. You should look at the bottom of that infocard.
Have you checked what is displayed as icon at the bottom of the info card?
Well, in that thread https://forums.elementalgame.com/380014 I have mentionned that the bottom display is incorrect while sp increase correctly between turn. I had a sovereign that was producing also SP
Even so, requiring 38 Charisma as a monolithic requirement to recruit that group is just silly.
Not to mention the fact that group of heroes doesn't have pretty good stats: an initial supercombatant sovereign will be able to kill them while still being unable to kill trolls.
