Localization of SD games are generally a nightmare if you want to have an up-to-date localization since SD provides lots of free updates that include new contents. There was this thread https://forums.elementalgame.com/383390 on the same subject. Maybe it already contains the answer you are looking for.
Beware the consequences of "Armies are not Stacks". But I feel I think I understand the significance of that statement.
I am not really sure about what kind of message Frogboy wanted to pass, but if it can help, here is a summary of my experience with Beta 1 combat which was only with hand to hand weapons. The combat was between a single unit and an army. It was either my super combatant sovereign againts wandering armies or group of NPC, or a troll
Nemado, VieuxChat, for the case you don't know, the following website http://transgalactique.free.fr/ is dedicated to making unofficial localization of Stardock games. They have already localized GC2 (base + all expansions), Sins of a Solar empire (base + all expansions) and Demigod. There are also planning to make an unofficial localization of Elemental. I think they are waiting for the XML files to be stable enough (
Impulse::Reactor, Stardock's answer to Steamworks, doesn't launch till August. It offers the same service as Steamworks without requiring the Impulse client to be installed or running, unlike Steamworks which requires Steam installed and running at all times.
You forgot another important point with Impulse::reactor: you don't need an Impulse account, a Facebook account can do the trick.
The map is hardcoded, AND the campaign is disabled. Does that mean that there is one map, and it is not a campaign map?
It means that only the sandbox/skimirsh mode is available. And the map will be always the same.
3. you have unlimited download ... for ever... or until impulse closes down... wont happen
Well, they are registring downloads made to identify abuse of the system: it isn't normal to have too many downloads the same day from different countries for the same serial key ;) But the basic idea is that once your game is registred on the stardock servers, you can download any time you need it, as long as you are using the same e-mail than the one you have used f
I'm not sure I understood "Non-Canon custom races are not enabled (Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Goblins, Drengin, Drath, etc.)". Are you saying the only custom races are based off of normal Humans or that the listed races are disabled or that custom races in general are disabled?
I guess that it just means that only custom races created through the game are allowed. No XML modding ;)
The only requirements for next Elemental beta are: - the PC with Elemental should be connected to Internet - having preordered the game (the card will be charged when the beta open) - using Impulse to install the game
I'm not sure if anybody asked this, but is there a way to cut back on the micromanagement? Having to fiddle with one or two cities is cool, but having to fiddle with 20 each turn is no fun, especially since you may forget building or training an important item in a specific city, which is very annoying.
If you look at the video, you will see an empire tree on the left of the screen indicating whichcities are building improvement/armies and which cities ar
I thought the least intrusive experience was Impulse Reactor. But hey, I'm just a PC gamer. What would I know?
Impulse reactor isn't yet an option for others companies. Stardock needs first to prove that it works correctly. And that will be done with Elemental.
Disable compatibility with IE 7 and should be fixed. (button near Refresh)
Thanks, that worked. But I need the IE7 compatibility mode when browsing forums.elementalgame.com/recent in order to have a workable "go to last unread reply" icon
Here is a screenshot of the problem I am experiencing
Maybe it is my web browser (IE8), maybe it is my PC (I am on a french computer), but the army page of Pakal Votan http://elementalgame.com/army/4121401 is unusable: you can't access to the detail of all his quests.
google translation from serbian to english gives: Maybe you just have to wait until the demo comes out.
It is unhappy that it has to “learn” each map. Humans cheat all the time. Why can’t it?
Wait until the AI discovers that human can cheat with savegames ;)
Is beta 2 going to still have stuff disabled compared to your internal build, and if so, how much?
at least diplomacy and tactical battles.
But can that Dragon Fly Over a Mountain? (Strategic Map)
I guess it will depends about the height of the mountain: if it is too tall (think Everest), there won't be enough air available to allow the dragon to fly ;)
For example, Gas Powered and Supreme Commander 2. No more should be said, other than WHY THE HECK DID THEY HAVE TO GO WITH STEAM ONLY?!?!?!?!?
GPG have choosen to use Steamworks for handling multiplayer in Supreme Commander 2 since it was a free, robust and eprouved library. But the use of Steamworks forces the user to have the Steam client installed and running on its computer when launching Sup Com2. As a result all other DD store (like Impulse, Direct
For the unaware, Brad, Frogboy and Draginol are the same person ;)
Hiergamenon. Can we get a pronuncation on that please?
I guess it should be pronounced in the same way than Hieroglyph (the egyption symbols used for scriptings)
Is it me or are everyone supposing that all factions will use the same tech tree? We know from Brad's journal that Fallen factions don't beleive in efficacity of schools ...
i want the standard edition. Which says i get both box and i can downloard the game as well?
Yes if you buy it on the Stardock/Impulse store. You will be able to download the beta when the preorder will be processed. And when the retail game ships, you wil get your boxed version.
If you preorder but don't want to play the beta, you won't be charged yet. You are charged as soon as you download it (it's no extra cost, they are just taking your payment for the game early).
I may be wrong but I fear it is the other way: you are charged, you get a serial Id and are able to download the game. If you don't want to be charged, you shall not preorder. I think that all preorders will be processed (and charged) when the next windows for new beta teste
wait we can pay to get into the beta?
Yes, SD beta are only open to people who have preordered to ensure that only people REALLY interested in the game are participating since there are lots of bugs, it is unpolished and doesn't indicate the quality of the final product. It is really different from others companies betas as input from beta testers can alter some important aspects of the game.
Switching the tactical system was very expensive for us but it was more important to us to do the tactical battles right than releasing something that we didn't think was optimal.
Is the tactical system usable in MP or only for single player?
