I'm not fussed over whether it's epic or not, or about the definitions of epicness, as long as the gameplay is good. I did find this idea interesting though: [quote quoting="post"] I think a chance was missed here to make something kinda Epic. Kingdom lands look pretty (like Trammel), Empire lands look ravished (like Felucca) like the non-revitalized lands. Essence is supposed to be needed to revitilize. Why aren't Empires the 'anti-Essence' faction

I consistently get an issue in tactical combat where if either the attacker or defender is mounted, it takes 5 or 6 seconds to 'free up' the game, by which I mean it partially freezes: you can click on and change units and see their move highlighted area, but you can't actually do anything because the previous attack has not completed. So if for example my infantryman strikes at an enemy cavalryman, I strike as normal, and then the cavalryman does nothing for a few seconds, and it appears con
Just renamed a captured city, then opened an event notifier for another city, went to build a hut (city is Gyr), zoomed in, tried to place. Crashed. In reply to the OP No, not really. Actually I believe it feels quite different, and therefore basing your decision on MoM alone will likely leave you a bit disappointed. Elemental, when it reaches it's full potential, could be something quite special, but isn't quite there yet. I must say though I had a similar experience with one of Stardock's other games Galactic Civilisations II, which I thought sucked a bit when I first played it, but when I came back 2 years later to pla
[e digicons]k1[/e] 100% agree. One thing you missed on the feedback piece on moving is some kind of feedback on impassable terrain (like the irritation of clicking on the coast and not moving - takes ages to get used to this behaviour). In terms of priority, agree most of this is right up there (though personally I'd like to see the attack and defence mechanics of parties and groups fixed first - I find I can't play the game while they multiply up the way they do if you have m
A dissenting view - I like the beginning of the game much better than later on!
Just got the latest version and very pleased to see that the parties seem to now attack as a collection of individuals and lose stats as members die (either that or I've been very unlucky with my parties of peasants). A single hero with decent defence now does much better - and nice to see some special abilities in as well. Couple of things: anyone know what those blue dots are for next to the city icons on the top left? (red ones are garrisoned units). Also, ma

I've been gaming for thirty odd years, and I've never had to use Steam. I don't know what that says; maybe I'm out of touch, or maybe just that you can ignore it if you want to. Impulse I have used, and what I like about it is there is a reason to use it - i.e. the updated content is worth having. I think the worry is when the service becomes more about taking than giving. I count 'checking this is a legal copy' whenever I am playing to be taking a lot. I also count having to be onlin
I'd say that it was overall very positive. I'll say that again, as I'm going to focus on the improvement areas: a very positive experience. So my main concern is on the 'demo' vs 'beta' expectations thing. Having been on the other side of this thing in the past (i.e. people beta testing my work), I know just what a large proportion of 'beta testers' don't post a single report. In fact in my experience, I could count on about 5% to do so, and only a handful of individuals to do it cons
Great news - really pleased to see the LAN support, and the archival copies too. Having lived in a part of the world where internet access is intermittent and slow, I know just how valuable this sort of thing can be. It's so easy to forget, sitting in the comfort of your living room and eating a takeaway pizza, that there is a large and silent portion of the playing public who live in areas whe
Not only was it a mess, but a painful one too. Having lived through all of that, the key question for me is how Bioware comes out of it. Bare with me as I give my personal opinion on the historical piece; I produced premium modules and expansions on a number of the games involved, and the net result of all these discussions is that 4 of them never saw the light of day, and the 5th only just scraped through. Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, the last premium mod/expansion for NWN, which I wrote, designe
I did the same the other day - that's what prompted me to laugh about it...
Seconded. I also get RSI, so agree on the keyboard thing. There are a couple of shortcuts (like G for guard) so likely there are a bunch already in we don't know about, but number pad movement and escaping out of the manual/windows would be the two that most preserve my finger, elbow and shoulder!
So when I try and start Beta 5, I get the error message ' Game not found'... Got ya [e digicons]:O[/e] . Come on - be honest now, who checked out this thread? Disclaimer: This is a joke - most of my posts are serious and constructive, but there's always time for humour.
I'd go for enemy units are not revealed until after deployment.

This currently occurs in most tactical battles: when you mouseover a unit, it does not update the unit card displayed in the bottom right of the screen. In the picture below I am currently moused over the unit which is shown in the bottom display - but the unit card has not updated.
Just as an update on this and some of the suggestions in the list, it's already confirmed both that tactical combat will have terrain effects, and that posessing shards will boost the effects of your spells. Two great pieces of news. Suggests we should keep posting... [e digicons][/e]
Yes - I wasn't perhaps clear on what I'd like best, but it would be: 1. Full deplyoment phase for battle - skippable. 2. If not 1, then designation of which unit types go in which ranks in an options menu (which can be changed in game), and this is used as the dafault behaviour for every battle until changed. 3. If not 1 or 2, a default setup chosen on some automatic criteria that we can at least plan against (be it unit type, dexterity, or whatever). Any of th
So here's another possible way of doing this without major rework of the underlying database. Using the militia example: currently when you produce a group of militia, you get 'party of militias'. Here's another way of doing it without needing a plural field in the database (or whatever you're using) - just switch the text around: 'Militia Party'. Voila! It works for nearly all iterations: 'Watchman Army', 'Militia Group' etc.
They aim to have it run at pretty low specs (you can see it in the overview section, though not with actual specs listed). The beta performance is patchy as there were some memory issues, now solved for the release which we didn't see, so the beta is no good as a benchmark for you - suggest you post the same question on the release version.
