I don't have a problem with recognizing new/updated posts, it's all visible on the topic list. Btw does it have anything to do with the new background?

You mean that the last unit in the stack is always targeted first in fast combat? I'm not in the beta, but if it's true it's a bad idea. It encourages the players to place heavily armored (or expandable) units at the end of a stack. Fast combat should emulate the tactical battles, so units should choose their targets. Maybe not always all targets should be available, for example melee units should be able to block the way to ranged units or heroes etc., but alw

The best solution would be introducing several game speed settings like in Civ4, so it will appeal to people who like slow-paced and fast-paced games. Btw a TBS game should appeal to TBS gamers, otherwise it's a game for no one, I don't think RTS-lovers who don't like TBS will play it. Edit: Sorry, I just realized that you were talking about SC2... But I still think that game speed settings are a good idea for Elemental.

I think espionage will appear in an expansion, like in GalCiv2.

It's just a matter of scaling. Unit training may be slow, but the movement on the global map is slow too. In games with provincial systems generally more things happen in a single turn, because moving a unit from one province to another is more impactful than moving it a tile or two, which is a standard for most units in Civ-like games. So you'll have to hit the "end turn" button more times, but the effect will be similar. I'm not in the beta, but some reports suggest that the research is too

It should add more strategy to the warfare aspect of the game.
RTS is a different kind of strategy. But it's impossible to make an AI that is challenging to an experienced human player and doesn't cheat (at least I haven't seen such thing in any game), so it will cheat on higher levels.

Of course turn-based combat can be done right (examples: Age of Wonders series and the new versions of King's Bounty*), or boring (example: Disciples 3). I'm curious how good it will be in Elemental. *No, I'm not Hortz [e digicons];)[/e]
RTS games test a player's ability to make effective decisions quickly, something that takes practice by the way, and is the hallmark of any good strategist.
This is not my definition of strategy. For me RTS games aren't true strategy games, they are a combination of strategy and "action" genres. @Austinvn: You're right, although I still prefer classic turn-based combat for its clearness - when many units are moving and figh

No turns but allow players to pause and give orders for example. It is just my opinion that battles shouldn't be as relaxed as the rest of the game.
What's so boring in turn-based combat? It's just you making decisions. If the battle is too easy, you can resolve it automatically. If it's balanced, every decision ma
I have to agree with this. I can understand the idea of the empires viewing themselves as good, and the whole concept of the fight being between "neutral" cultures clashing over principles, but it's flawed in this case. We the players empathize with the kingdoms and so I think the vast majority of us will see this game as a very clear cut good vs evil struggle, with the kingdoms as good and the empires as evil. There is absolutely nothing about the
