I believe that you will have a nice tool provided by Stardock to create a new faction. This will allow you to define the various strengths/weaknesses of the faction as well as what tech tree they use (think GalCiv 2). Interesting. I am a pc gamer at heart, but I own a PS3. I had Unreal Tournament 3 for the ps3 and it did have the keyboard and mouse enabled for the PS3, it was great. I loved it. I thought to myself, you know what if all the consoles enabled keyboard and mouse and started adding strategy games, then I might have to make the console my main gaming platform. However, they haven't done it and who know if they ever will.

Quick Question: Will the AI try to offer the player DC as part of a trade. i.e. AI - "Hey there buddy, I'll give 15000 DC if you just hand over your super death sword elite squad of death. What do you say?" Me - "No way, but I'll give you 1000 DC for your Archers of Pain." AI - "Okay!"

AI in general, and game AI specifically really intrigues me, I would be really interested in hearing how you go about designing the AI system for a game like Elemental. I realize that we'll see some of the parts in the XML and modding, but I'd like to understand more about the design of the entire AI system. Is there any chance that you would be interested in writing a Post-Mortem about AI design for Elemental or for 4x strategy games in general. I realize

How do you withdraw from battle? Only the attacker can do i assume, and if so, do you escape to the cloudy area at the side of the map?

It's not a universal problem. I play with both AA and advanced lighting without problems. I would imagine it is tied to a driver issue, and Stardock can't change the drivers, they must be waiting to see if NVidia and ATI will respond to their questions, if not they will have to change the internal game engine to do things a different way (which maybe a lot of work).

Sounds like you still have malware on your computer. Try to load up the computer in safe mode and disable all non-essential start up tasks. Then run anti-virus scan and spyware scan. Once that is done, boot up in normal mode and leave the internet disconnected (to prevent virus from downloading or uploading any information). At that point run hijack this to see what is runnin

I like the idea of having more faction specific coloring on the armor. I know they don't want to do flags, but perhaps even a UI HUD strip over the unit would help.

If I understand correctly, the auto combat will use your tactical spells, the actual combat is simulated (you can see the log and see who hit who with what), so it won't immediately make tactical spells useless, they'll be as good as the AI (whether that is a good thing is up to you I suppose).

Similar problem, although I am able to get past the intro if I close the program and restart. The audio during the "old school" intro is really messed up though. There are so many free website hosting companies out there (in fact most isps offer them) that I am surprised that people don't just upload it to their site and put a link to it here. Little more work to get it setup then dropbox, but afterwards you have a site. Just a thought.

Frogboy mentioned that we are only using 2 research trees out of the 10 that will be available at launch. Granted that won't change the categories you are refering to, but should provide a bit more diversification.

I'll also add that bad network cables are definitely a reality. They can cause a lot of downtime, especially since they tend to be intermittent problems, and hard to track in large systems. While it may not be the problem with your system, you shouldn't immediately jump all over people that have experience with that sort of problem. Hope you get it figured out.

I agree, I have a hard time knowing who belongs to what faction. In general, I dislike having to go to the cloth map, unless I want a big strategic view of things. A Hud box over each unit on the 3d map should help.

[e digicons]k1[/e] - Great idea. I think that we should also be able to insert our own images for crests. We'll see what we can do once the modding beta starts.

Scroll wheel or mouse button 3 should work for the "middle" mouse button. I don't know the keyboard equivalent, I'm sure there will be one though.
