Murteas, that is a pretty cool 'Elemental' Flag ... perhaps a take on the Naga design? I really think there should be a flag like that I'd select it for at least one Custom Civ.
I got a cool plug-in to Gimp that lets me make flags for elemental, and then I took one of the elemental art pictures and took the Ignys out of it. If you are interes
Murteas
They usually don't remove options. I think they are trying to decide which to have on by default.
Really like the different races you are coming up with here. Looking forward to trying this out.
Great idea!
Fair enough. I'll probably still have the random faction creator make "balanced" factions though.
Sure, I can do that. I tried to guess what most people would want, but I can add more. How many do you think you would want? (5 positive and 3 negative should be the max). Maybe I'll just change it to the checkboxes like the in game editor. Do you want it to enforce the 2 point max, or do you just want to be able to go crazy regardless of the imbalance?
Yeah, it's an Ignys. I was playing with making some new flags/logos for some custom factions and I liked this one in particular. I'll probably put another picture up of my son once I get his 4 month pictures. I'm always open to avatar switching, but I probably shouldn't do it too often, it's good to be recognized sometimes. :)
Yeah, as sean said we are going to get an Excel spreadsheet with some heavy duty macros that should allow us to make changes to a lot of things, but for now, I use this for all my custom races. I may make an item creator as well, or a logo creator. I'm still deciding.
Updated this to have a few abilities I was missing from FE. Added a tooltip to the abilities so you can see their description.
I made a faction editor back for the WoM beta, I've updated it a bit for the FE beta. It works so you can mod all the colors of the faction. It will even generate random factions. Feel free to try it out: https://forums.elementalgame.com/416167
The things you mention as basic framework, are actually something that is relatively easy to change, and will get smoothed out in the balance and polish passes. IMO, I think the game is in the high 7's range for me. It needs some interface love and the aforementioned balance and polish passes to get to the high 8 or 9 level. Honestly I love playing it, and choose it over other games I have on my computer right now. I want
No reason at all to not use Win 7 64bit now, unless you have some piece of expensive equipment that simply won't work with Win 7 64 bit. I have 3 computers at home and only 1 of them is vista 32 bit, the other 2 are Win 7 64. So I say bring on the 64bit requirements, bring on the mulit-core requirements and the modern OS requirements.
Looks promising. I'll check it out. good job!
Awesome! Despite my own efforts of creating a quest editor. I am so (!!!) glad they are going to release one with the game. Hopefully we'll get it sooner rather than later, but I understand the concern. Perhaps they can flag crash reports if they happen while a mod is in use. that way they don't chase phantom bugs. I guess they could ask modders to not release mods for a while, but give us the tools to start working o
Tried a new game and didn't experience the same problem. Odd, guess I was just "lucky" or I really needed to know what way was north. :)
I'm getting a ton of compass drops now (Like 4 in 50 turns), any idea if that could be due to this mod? I looked at your modified coreitems and compass is at likelihood 37 so I don't think it is messing it up, but I don't know. I am using the alchemy mod as well, which I'll turn off and try a new game to see if it affected it.
Great idea. I'll try it out on my next game. [e digicons]k1[/e]
I play a custom faction 100% of the time, but I use Magnar as the base for my favorites. I think that visual differences will be a significant benefit, but also the different equipment/summons/buildings are important to really cement that each faction is unique. I for one will always play a custom faction as that just appeals to me the most, but I love playing against the distinct factions and "knowing" what they bring to the table.
I'd say that's an issue as it makes it necessary to make changes to the vanilla objects just to make your own. Good job finding this Heavenfall. I assume you have passed the info along to Frogboy or Kael. Hopefully they'll make a change here. I can't image changing this to a long would cause that much of a memory bump. You could still store the likelihood in a short, but the accumulation of likelihoods in a long. I'll h
The original is truly one of my favorite games of all time. It is a classic. I will definitely pick this one up if for no other reason than to support a game that has turn based squad combat. :) In any case, it looks really good from the video.
I sent a pm to frogboy and kael hoping to get something, but they have been conspicuously quiet on the matter. I am certain we'll have something for the quests. I can continue this effort if we really don't get anything, but I need to think how to make it a reasonable tool without it becoming a full time job.
You could also use the faction editor to set up your race. It has a place to set the city names (separate by , no spaces). https://forums.elementalgame.com/416167
Played for a few hours last night and never had any drop. I did get to choose a vineshield from the sovereign creation screen however.
I had this happen where I was exiled to an island after entering Altar's terrain. :( Man they take trespassing seriously. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Why is the current system unfun?
