The game can take a while to start the first time as it's doing some texture stuff. Windowed mode is available in the options.

The game will run on 64bit systems but it is not yet 64bit native due to lack of a 64bit version of Havok.
Try grabbing the full installer from the impulse website and reinstalling it.
It would be really cool (possible unrealistic though) if an IRC (or some other form of chat) client could be built into the game interface itself.
Given that PM08 and Demigod have IRC, it's a fair bet it will.
Anyone not get an email yet?
It's going to take a few hours to process the whole queue. First placed, first filled.
Fixed thread title.
You'll get a hold on your account when you place your order regardless. Policies vary from bank to bank on how long they hold them, some only go for a day, while others will hold indefinitely. It really doesn't have anything to do with when the charge will actually go through, and it'll be charged even if the hold has since dropped. That having been said, for those not in IRC we're looking at tomorrow for the beta.
As I noted there, that's what we usually do, but nothing concrete has been set for Elemental as yet.
We usually leave an open window for a week or so after starting a beta phase in which time orders go through directly rather than queueing; paypal would be usable during such a period.
Or atleast provide CE boxes through whichever UK/EU publisher you decide.
Can't really do that, they'd still have to be completely redone to comply with EU market requirements if they're to be sold locally there.
AN ARBITRARY MILESTONE HAS BEEN SURPASSED
Still doesn't answer the question as to why they think it's necessary to filter out people in a turn-based enviroment.
I don't expect it'll be a major factor in Elemental, but nonetheless when underspec users harm the experience for others, it's as often as not the game's maker that gets blamed, not those users.
Email as astrath noted. Unless your bank kept the funds-check hold on record, there won't be anything there since it won't actually be charged until the beta is released.
I've always preferred trackpoints myself too. Not sure why so few people do, it's better than wearing the skin off your finger with a touchpad.
Wait and see, guys. If we do go through with what Brad mentioned (and I personally wouldn't even take it as a concrete plan when it's only mentioned in passing on a Demigod journal), I doubt any restriction on Elemental would be all that stringent. If you're still on $5/mo dialup you might have cause for concern, but otherwise, let's not jump to conclusions just yet.
IIRC Brad doesn't like sigs, therefore there won't be sig support :p
The requirements on sins are intentionally conservative, so running below them isn't unheard of.
Do not post such links again, Hortz. This is the last warning you're going to get.
Still blind as baseball bats and your IQ's are dipping even futher.
You've been told to knock off the insults. Making puppet accounts to give yourself karma (yes, we can tell) is just icing on the cake. Time for a vacation.
Yes, hold policies vary from bank to bank. Most release them in 24-48 hours at most.
Is there some official source to confirm which date the account is charged (that is, at what point I will no longer be able to use the fifty dollars which, prior to that point, was in my checking account).
The way that the system works is that you need a serial key registered in order to download. That's how people with it (be it preorder or final) are distinguished from those without. If you have an uncharged preorder, it's not even linked to your Impulse account in an
ok, so if i preordered it today, when the beta starts, ill be charged? i would think they should wait until its released before charging. that doesnt make any sense to me.
If you're looking for a no-commitment trial rather than an active role in the game's development, we'd advise against preordering. We usually do demos after release, which may be more what you're looking for.
Cut the insults, Hortz. You've been warned once before. If you can't get along with others, we may have to show you the door.
Rants about actual religions are not relevant to a discussion about a mechanic as in Civ 4. Take such comments to the appropriate venue or drop them.
When you preorder, your order just goes into a queue. Once we are ready to release the beta, all the pending preorders will be charged and you'll be granted access. There's not really anything you need to do (besides placing the order) but wait for now.
