It's all the same database, the separation is on the user-end of the sites (and yeah, they'll be less convoluted in that regard in the future). If the recent posts pages aren't updating right that's probably just some sort of caching issue.

Typically we open it up after all the queued orders are done charging, though since it landed late-night on the verge of a four-day weekend it's hard to say. I'll see if I can get a confirmation if it will indeed open up tonight or if it'll wait.
So why is it on, and why am I required to fiddle with settings to get the game to show correctly? It should work out of the box.
The game is currently in beta. There will be issues, and through the beta we'll work them out and determine the final system specs, default settings, etc once the bugs are resolved. The beta is not a bug-free early demo, nor is it intended to be. Remarks like this are quite premature and are not helpful in a beta environment; if you ar

You can preorder using paypal during the open window once Beta 3 begins, in which the orders are charged immediately rather than put on queue. This period usually lasts about a week. We can't charge orders manually, they need to go through the system.

All preorders made after midday June 18 are queued for Beta 3. You will not be charged and will not gain beta access or a serial key until Beta 3 is launched, at which point it will appear in Impulse if you have prerelease versions enabled. Do not confuse an order confirmation number for a serial key, they are not the same and the order number will not work as a key.

Sounds like it's just skipping. As the current build has some performance issues upon first reaching the main menu, it's not unexpected.

We're selling the NA retail box, which European stores will generally not carry. So you'd need to get it from us, a US/Canada store, or an importer.
I don't remember the values, but it's something like 55€ + $17 = 72€
It's just a symbol display error (you'll note the displayed cost is the approximate figure in Euros for USD$20). I've notified the store webdev.
and they will always declare everything to custo

Facebook-wise only the main elemental page is eligible AFAIK. We're looking into the gamespot thing and should have news on that when we're ready. Diggs need to be ones from within the past couple of weeks at most (even that is probably overly generous). Any more than that and there is not really any chance they'll gain any benefit from it. So yes, that means that latecomers to army may not get credit for digging things that others did in the past. There's no shortage of things to do

If people get things they want for cheap that's great. But personally it bothers me when people buy things (in general) just because they're cheap that they didn't have any real interest in; others taking advantage of that human tendency even more so. And every time a sale comes up like this I see comments from people about having bought things just because they're cheap that they probably won't play or don't care if they like, or even buying *everything* that was on sale because it was on sa

If you're moving sometime around the ship date and don't know for sure when (and can't have it forwarded), it might be better to just have it shipped to nearby friend or family member, a work address, etc.
So you want Steam to do what, sell a a brand new game (month old) at 50% off or more and then you'll give them some credit for being able to do a great sale. Impulse certainly doesn't do that. The BM stores don't even come close most the time either.
The point is that Steam isn't selling things for cheap out of benevolence; Steam is just looking out for Steam. If they can get people to buy things they otherwise wouldn't, that's only a gain for them--even more so if peop
I'm sure you know that it's great for both the developers, publishers, and Steam
For Steam, sure. Don't bet there'll be much pie left over for the code monkeys once everyone else has had their share, though. It works fine for first-party sales--all you have to do is come out ahead on price x quantity. But for normally published third-party titles, there are an awful many hands that money has to go through, and not every cut is going to be a flat percentage of unit reven

"I want game X but it costs too much, so I'll wait for a sale" is a perfectly logical and valid stance; you're looking out for your own interests as a consumer. "Game Y is only $5! I don't really care about it but I'll buy it anyway because it's so cheap!" is the sort of behavior that is common in these huge sales, and are what they're counting on. They're taking advantage of the classic shopping fallacy of "saving by spending". Seeing something for far below market price skews its va

In my experience, most people don't like being ad-bombed on their own machine. Many just don't realize that they can disable it and wind up tolerating it anyway.
I can't help but buy games I don't even need, because for $2-$5, why not?
They price slow-moving products below the impulse-buy (ha) threshold (with a couple of first party titles or older third party AAA games to make it less obvious what they're doing), and people gobble them up just be

Just having the app on one's machine has little to do with it. When you run a steamworks game, you've got Steam front and center every time you play, with "news" (their term for sales promotions) popping up when Steam starts unless otherwise disabled, Steam branding in the MP/Achievements interfaces, etc. Selling a title that promotes a competitor's store and maintains customer awareness like that is very bad business--rather than simply not gaining customers, it may cause you to actually *lo
