Thanks! That will save much time that I can put to some other misconception and be wiped out... ah, the life, uh--short life, of a peacenik! Can't we invent rock 'n roll or something that creatures of aggression need but can't do for themselves cuz they're too uptight? heh. just kidding... no, don't bother getting up, I was just leaving. heh... *sweating all of a sudden* Bess ;) ~SDC~

*opening nice new notebook* RE: abilities On page 6, abilities are listed with bonus points and percentage of increase levels. On page 12, under "Your Civilization in Action" is another list of abilities. It is not exactly the same as the bonus list in this description. Is this the same list? Will I be increasing or decreasing the same ability values I have after making bonus decisions? Are there any abilities I can only effect at the outset? <br
:D FYI: My guardian angel must have stepped in and reset something... I'm back downloading (I posted but must have not entered correctly...don't see it anywere). I lost it at 322 mbs not 380 which it felt like. NOTE: I may be the last one with an old slow modem, but I did two things: I ran the Xteq Systems wizard for IE and found that when a connection is broken, IE begins counting the time it gets no data from the server. Af
Well, I got hooked up again... it was at 233 mb, not 280. It just seemed like 280... Bess ~SDC~
Yes, downloads are resumed, but apparently not under every condition. I was able to resume all the way until I fell asleep and when I looked, it was still sitting there but disconnected, when I tried to connect again, I got a "install failed" and the download stats were wiped clean. Are you saying that Get Right will take over the download if I hit "install" on the Stardock software screen? Tks... ~SDC~
Hello everyone... I'm still trying to get the game set up. I almost made it getting the multimedia, over 285 mgs, but I fell asleep and lost it. Even though I have a reconnect box checked I got cut off every 5 or so hours and if I redialed in time, I got hooked up... but I couldn't keep my eyes open... Can I get some help, or a cd, or a url so I can use a download manager? I have the game itself and the bonus pack...and archived...yay... so there is hope. Be
(We need an "whatever" Gal Civ Forum. I've seen several sites that have a forum precisely for off topic stuff) Anyway...regarding chronic illness. I'm going to state this here and not miss anyone and then I'll drop it and people can contact me if they care to. Mercury was added to vaccinations for 60 years. I believe it was a little business/profit scheme to ensure business. Here is the short version. I am calling for at least a hearing, and there is only o
Like, don't get me started? Look, non-Americans, posing as Americans have taken bags of money and B.S. out in the world and done some very un-American things. This terrorist stuff is not anything of principle. Terrorists have a criminal mentality and are no different mentally than child rapists. They just get off on blowing people to smithereens. Anyone who thinks mistreating ano
Well, here in Tacoma -- America's Wired City *cough* -- the weather is fine, it's just everything else: The head of the gazillion dollar sex offender complex has been charged with an assault, the DC sniper got his gun at the big Tacoma gun shop, the chief of police shot and killed his wife and himself in a grocery store parking lot -- in front of his kids, the city manager who appointed him gets a bigger salary than the mayor of Seattle or the governor of the state, the state has just cut phone
w2k, two weeks ago and can't get galciv multimedia reinstalled; 'my document' folders everywhere. Maybe I'll just get a case of cheap legacy 25 gig hard drives because "reformatting" raises some real doubts in my mind... Bess

Lindows 4.0 was released today. (www.Lindows.com) Walmart is selling a $200 machine that is loaded with Lindows. I subscribed after watching the site for over a year. For $99, I have access to a "warehouse" of 2,000 programs and the interface/installer at their end just installs it, no questions asked. Yesterday, I saw that Tiger Direct is selling a Windows 98 computer for under $400. My little heart flipped and I thought of the $$$ of games in my hall closet that I can't run on Wi
Uh.... I'm not quite getting this, still... Stardock Central shows nothing in the "archived" box or in the "backup" file folder. multimedia is listed in the "installed" folder, but I'm not getting any... Before I had to clear my hard drive and start over, the game was operating fine, but now my luck has run out. I'm not clear as to how many options for downloading through Stardock Central exist: downloading, downloading and archiving..."install"... a
LOL Thanks for responding! I'm still in the downloading groove but may finish today. Please forgive my ignorance. My brain is in a wheelchair. I, on the other hand, am brilliant and very kewl. I just have to work a bit harder to understand what my brain doesn't get. (mercury poisoning) Could someone tell me just "how" to back up these files on cd? I am using a cd in my drive as a "save to" option so I can store the stuff I write and all the neat stuff I
I'm old enough to connect the dots and get the big picture. I was surprised to discover that we do get mature enough to figure it all out, but then it is too late, cuz noone listens to an older person for some odd reason. But to the point here... The media is responsible for pointing to stuff that is going on: "Hey, look over here at what this guy is doing!" No matter how t
Okay, I've got 118MB of the 366MB multimedia file(s) :) la la la la ... *getting out headphones* *sigh* I hate playing cards for 36 hours straight... I'm not sure if I have everything yet, because I don't know -- really -- how this is being organized and stored. So, big huge question: what should I do to be sure I don't have to spend another four days downloading? Could someone give me a little organization chart --kinda, sorta -- of what is on my computer, where, and how
:notsure: uh... I'm new and wandered in here because I'm having some problems and I see that I'm not the only one. I'm still trying to get the program all downloaded and running. I can't find any information on archiving or do I know if I'm following any proper steps. I had it all going on and then I had to reformat my hard drive and start over. I accidentally cut myself off while trying to get the humungus multimedia file and I can't download it at all, as it looks like i
okay, it installed. I hate this... I'll never figure this one out... In "settings" the default was to keep SDCentral settings from session to session. I have two versions in my startup folder, one all by itself and one with GalCV. This happened during subscribing to drengin, I guess. But I'm only showing one folder for each... should I just have one directory for the game and ...dren...and star...zzzzzzzzzzzzz Soooo, the server must have been churning away at a cou
OMG... LOL Now I'm back to 365 of 366 showing, after I clicked again and cancelled a couple of extra "qued" ...standby.... My modem is transferring something... Am I in the game? :p ~SDC~
uh... sumfin's wrong, maybe... :notsure: download manager says I have downloaded "395MB of 366MB" and estimated time left is 71582717 minutes... Did I get hacked? I've never seen this... the file name has been on credits.bi... since 366MB was hit and it is still calculating, says I have 107 percent of file...?? ~SDC~
:notsure: Can anyone tell me how large the multimedia download really is??? I'm at 377MB, ten over what it says ... and I'm pooped... Bess ~SDC~
woohoo... I'm at 98 percent of the multimedia download...uh what day is it? About archiving: I haven't found out exactly how to do this or what Stardock Central does. I want to burn a cd so I don't have to download 366MB for two modules, ever again! Could someone walk me through the steps to burn the right files in the right manner to a backup cd? thanks...zzzzzz oops, huh? LOL ~SDC~
I'm setting this up on my duallie I built for BeOS (may she rest in peace until Gates rolls her out as his next OS). I used an old server board from RioWorks. I've got 2 750s, no problem. I'm running wrkpro so I can shut down a cpu if I need to, but I've only needed to once and I dumped the program instead. The tweak part is that while I have 1gig RAM, I'm running a PCI TNT video. The board is only agp *2* (isn't it up to *8*?). I'm not having any trouble at all but I hav
BoBo and karmegeddon attend different schools together. I have part of package; am trying to download 366mb multimedia brick tonight. Played a "tutorial" on bit this morning, got lost, in a way. Thank you so much for pointing out the "turn" thing... still got this twitch from seeing the BEAST come out of nowhere...I'll be in sickbay getting checked out... Bess ~SDC~
*male enlargement thingy popup just scared the crap outta me* I'm so sick of being stalked by ecommerce. Anyway, I just joined the network and I'm futsing around the game and very happy about a couple of features. The competition concept is brilliant. I've been quickly grossed out and overrun in some venues. I printed out the manual that is sitting in the Stardock control center, or whatever it is called, and it was nearly unreadable. I just this minute found one ne
