285 mgs and...poof...

Hello everyone...

I'm still trying to get the game set up. I almost made it getting the multimedia, over 285 mgs, but I fell asleep and lost it. Even though I have a reconnect box checked I got cut off every 5 or so hours and if I redialed in time, I got hooked up... but I couldn't keep my eyes open...

Can I get some help, or a cd, or a url so I can use a download manager?

I have the game itself and the bonus pack...and archived...yay... so there is hope.

Doesn't Stardock Central support resuming downloads?

Failing that, you can look into the most famous download manager: http://www.getright.com/

Although GetRight will resume (and accelerate) downloads, it may have trouble if you don't have a Url to the updated multimedia.

Yes, downloads are resumed, but apparently not under every condition. I was able to resume all the way until I fell asleep and when I looked, it was still sitting there but disconnected, when I tried to connect again, I got a "install failed" and the download stats were wiped clean.

Are you saying that Get Right will take over the download if I hit "install" on the Stardock software screen?

Tks...

:D

FYI:

My guardian angel must have stepped in and reset something...

I'm back downloading (I posted but must have not entered correctly...don't see it anywere).

I lost it at 322 mbs not 380 which it felt like.

NOTE:

I may be the last one with an old slow modem, but I did two things:

I ran the Xteq Systems wizard for IE and found that when a connection is broken, IE begins counting the time it gets no data from the server. After 5 min, it times out. Xteq provides the option to change that time. I did, and it is considerably longer now.

AND, I was getting the popup messages from www.stopmessages.com and they piled up several deep while I was in dreamland and thay many have contributed to my breakup with Stardock.

I banged in the url and headed over there to tell them I feel like I'm being stalked and to knock it off or else, and found a tip.

Start-Run-(type)services.msc-okay...scroll down and disable messenger module. Just another thing that could crop up when downloading for days at a time...

I'm at 310MB now... smokin!
