Turning off Auto Turn stopped the runaway game but turning it back on started the nonstop turns. The "bug" even ignores units with moves left and it is so fast I am not even sure the AI is moving. Press CTRL-Z did something, including teleporting my sovereign into the ocean, but did not stop the runaway :)

One of my games constantly starts new turns after one finishes - even after reloading. I haven't figured it out how to stop it besides quitting. The game doesn't crash though. Do the devs want a game save? What other option besides DropBox can I use to upload a save file?
Sorry kryo, posting a svaegame was obvious. I already conquered that empire and don't have an old enough savegame. I'll post one if I can recreate the glitch.
See screenshot (http://imagebin.ca/view/gy7Qg2EO.html). I assume the following border drawing glitch does have nothing to do with my video card.
FYI: I moved my Windows 7 64-bit Taskbar from the bottom (horizontal) to the left (vertical). When I start Elemental, my mouse cursor (with a windows arrow) is confined to the left side just where my Windows Taskbar would be. The cursor icon flickers between the Windows arrow and the Elemental feather when I try to force the cursor past the left "confinement area". Finally, a mouse click sends me to the Windows desktop. Clicking on the Elemental application in the Taskbar sends

Dear Elemental team, The unpolished, not-worth-$50 feel and experience of the initial release was disappointing and I put the game to rest for several updates. However, the 1.06 release reminded me again how fast you guys move, how agile your development style is. I remembered how much fun I had watching your work progress in the beta and I see that you keep on trucking. I can't wait to keep rediscovering Elemental as you grow it! Thank you for doing it differently! Lo
I bet Stardock has protected at least the sovereign unit XML (see numbered postfix in the file name) from tampering in the name of multiplayer fairness. Still, I am bummed out that I can't mod my single player sovereign XML. :(
I understand that the sovereign unit XML file has to be protected for multiplayer games, ladders, ranking, etc. However, will it be modable for "private" single player games? I really enjoy giving my sovereign an unfair advantage over the computer players (extra moves, stats, and essence). After all, there are more than enough competition and challenges in real life to have to get stressed over a computer game. :)
The objective is to make a strategy game that feels like it's playing in an RPG world. An RPG world does not mean SimFantasy.
Well, maybe I'll be able to mod in some SimFantasy elements on a landscape level. I would love to experience the passage of time in form decay and growth. Or maybe i should attempt rolling in some ecology models - all those trolls want is food, drink, shelter, and maybe some sport with the peasantry ;
The Ebenwolf pictures of my rescued pubs disappeared after a while too.
I pressed the next turn button and had an immediate CTD without any pop-ups or alerts. This was the longest I was able to play without a crash. Way to go! debug.err DxDiag.txt Dump
Yay! Yesterday's build fixed my out of memory error. I did a clean install (deleted "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic" too). Now I am having a different CTD (no alert popups) much later in the game and before reaching that magical 1.4 GB memory use threshold. i'll start a new thread.
Hi BoogieBac! My screen and game resolution is at 1920 by 1080. What resolution should I try to see if it stops the out of memory symptoms? EDIT: never-mind - I'll try today's build with a clean install.
@Publius of NV Where do you find the dump file? I am still having out of memory errors too (https://forums.elementalgame.com/381778).
I am encountering the out of memory error again as I did in the latest betas. This time on on turn 38 (1325805 KB memory usage - Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, I7 processor, 6 GB RAM). BTW - Thanks for Beta 1z! I am not having fun at all ;) debug.err DxDiag.txt Prefs.ini
I vote for cultural and genetic distinction first and customization second (assuming that I could mod a custom race/faction).
I like the very distinctive play-styles for the races in the Fall from Heaven 2 (FfH2) mod for CIV 4. The races are unbalanced on purpose and force me to accept attributes (good, bad, and just weird ones) that I would not choose or think-of in a sand-box game. The role-playing gamer in me would really like distinct, well developed and thought out races/factions while leaving the sandbox capability to modding your own races/factions. On the other hand, I really like to customizing my S
I am having the "Out of memory" symptoms for at least the last three Beta 1 releases. I am running Elemental on a Win7 pro 64 bit with 6 GB of RAM machine. Specifically, the game appears to always crash after a certain time (30+ minutes?), number of turns, or number of safes. There is a crash to desktop, and two Windows 7 alert windows pop-up with a simple "Out of memory" message. Then, Windows 7 pro tries to be helpful by offering to close the app or to look for solutions onlin
I understand now why the beta releases are not supposed to be fun. However, every new release was exciting so far and I had fun exploring the feature changes and bug fixes. It's a bit like watching a construction project or an anthill. You look away for a while and suddenly there is new stuff.
Given the 32-bit memory allocation limit, would it be possible to have larger maps if one would turn off the close up game rendering and just stick to the cloth map (netbook-mode)? Civ 4's map-size/memory limitations, especially late game, are so frustrating.
The game freezes (audio is on; still uses 13 to 15 % of processing resources) shortly after my first level up. I could not switch back to the windows desktop and had to invoke ALT-CTRL-Delete to kill the process. My debug.err is at http://pastebin.com/6AESuLtb I wonder if all those missing XML files may be a problem. :) I'll try a clean install of 0.291.
I would love some mechanism for roads to decay over time. Roads and not just cities should be part of the ebb and flow of empires. Road decay could be triggered by: under utilization empty end points (road to nowhere) lack of funding/resources (if it plays a role in road construction) loss of territory control ...
6) The player pays a very small upkeep cost for road maintenance depending on the length of the road and type of road. The player should be allowed to drop upkeep costs for a specific road which is no longer desired. Once the upkeep costs are terminated the road gradually degrades back to a dirt road and then fades by the terrain, weather, battles, etc., . The dirt road has the lowest upkeep, then the gravel road and finally the paved road. T
