I liked Raza and got a lot of use out of him before I switched entirely to mounted combat, thus leaving him behind in some city for unrest reduction.
Not competently; the AI players also have a tendency to play the default factions. Every game I play a new faction/race.
Huh, really? I find that there's a good chance that custom factions get selected for AI players when I start new games.
The problem is that the AI does not have access to useful units. Player made units are strictly better than whatever units the AI can recruit due to traits. The guys I design early game still beat whatever the AI brings on late game. Furthermore, the abilities from spears and axes are completely overpowered. You get to kill multiple units in one charge, that is just wrong.
Can't the AI mak

I don't have a lot to add right now, but I totally agree that tactical spells with cast times are often a waste of time.

I've often thought that Kraxis is a big uncooperative jerk. I've also found that with some oddities that exiting the game and reloading can fix things. I hadn't thought of that in this case, but glad you worked it out. Still, a bug and should be fixed if possible.

I'm okay with undead, although their inclusion did surprise me at first, given what Elemental is (the historical events of the Altarian race/homeworld in Galactic Civilizations). It fits the genre, though.
I posted a saved game and steps to recreate in this thread some time ago. If you had loaded a saved game from within the game, or done a control-N at the start to generate a new map, it's probably the same bug as the one I described.
This sounds about right. I got it in .51 or .75. Reloading actually made it worse - the text disappeared entirely. Exiting the game and reloadin

Steam is one of the best things to happen to PC gaming in years. I'd say probably 2/3 of my currently played games are on Steam, and many I repurchased on Steam at a discount so I could have easier access to them. I'm sick of CDs, and a couple hours to install a game is a minor price to pay. Also, so many games I really enjoy that I never ever would have known about if not for Steam. Impulse was nice, and Stardock Central before it. Impulse even protected me from insta

No argument there. Sometimes it's worth it to give it a go. My understanding is that most core stamps that create starts like that were edited to not do it.

Yeah, I know where my unit files are, thankfully. Lets me tweak my custom stuff without having to redo the whole process. Ah, I see. I looked in there before but I looked for unit names, and not the "coreunits.xml".

Yeah, I do not understand why that wasn't part of the UI for selecting the pose. I liked the mage stance, but not the lack of glitter. BTW, where are the default unit files stored?
