Yes, please Zyxspilon! ob1; Yes, I hate just quitting when things look hopeless. I've managed to pull games out of the fire before. Sometimes you win, sometimes not. It's more fun that way.
Will be fixed for the next update.
When will the next update be? Yesterday you were saying today for the crash bug, but it looks like that's not happening.

In GalCiv 1, I started a game on a 4x4 map (tiny?) with either two or three enemies - the Arceans and the Drengin for sure, maybe the Altarians. During the colony rush, I found a moderately high PQ planet (like 18-20) and got the earthworm event - choose good, take a massive hit to planet quality, choose neutral, take a moderate hit, choose evil, take a massive bonus. Since my empire was struggling with the planets I'd already picked up (none higher than 16 I recall) and taking the good choice w

I can't say which is best. I use small hulls when the AI builds up their empires so I can rapidly overcome their military strength, and this is largely because I have better weapons and maybe defenses than they do. I don't build cargo hulls for this, so I can't say how well that works in comparison. When the AI's building large and huge ships, I build medium. At some point, I sell off my old cheap stuff to whichever empire is in really bad shape and at war with someone.
1) Diplomacy - Unique techs are no longer flagged with * This has been fixed for next beta. Also, there is a related bug on research screen where the unique race icons do not show. This has also been fixed. I am currently working on the invasion screen crash. EDIT: The invasion screen crash has been fixed.
When do we get to download? :)

That's because it's not Entertainment Network > Drath Temples. Or Healing Pools. It may be that the problem is that Altarians have three different morale building "paths." We need the ability to manually add buildings to the "old" tab.

I've done okay with tech trading turned off in DA, but in TA many races have holes that can only be filled with tech trades from other civs. Also, I like using the diplomacy window to find out what weapon and defense techs my enemies are researching.
game is still crashing sometimes when you try to upgrade a ship in the ship yard. i should say crashes to desk top. this seems to happen mostly when i hit the defense button. The game always crashes the first time I switch to another tab, that's usually weapons.
Do you run in windowed mode?

Siege is an easy one to win. I rushed to planetary invasions and took out their one world very early. Apocalypse is where I stalled. Everything I tried ended up with the Dread Lords destroying all my ships and invading my worlds. Plus, when looking up strategies here, I read that Apocalypse tends not to complete when played in DA.

I've had in excess of 10,000 BC treasurires in several beta games and haven't noticed much of a tax hit at 5 and 10k. I guess it encourages you to start buying stuff, though, which is probably a good thing. What I really need is a larger navy so I have less excess. :)

Oh, damnit. Why didn't anyone tell me about this? So I can safely ignore these wild swings? I go through binges and purges, too. I'll spend down to a few thousand BC and then build it back up. I'll try spending down to see if that clears this up.
I'm having the same problem with disruptors,I get the sound effects but no grafix. I also noticed the same problem occured when the Acreans researched doom rays. Usually when a battle starts with a ship with these techs the game stalls and won't end turn.
I've had this problem too. At first, I thought it was the nightmare torpedoes that I was using, but the ships I was fighting had Doom Rays.

My economic experience with the Altarians has been fairly weird. I'm not building and using hundreds of constructors every turn, nor am I constantly losing trade routes. But my economy will go from deeply in the green (1500 or more net income) to deeply in the yellow (1000 or more net loss) from one week to the next. I haven't built lots of high maintenance buildings, I haven't changed my tax rate, my approval hasn't dropped. It's so high I can tax my population at 100% and all my planets will s
