So you could be a Bladesinger, of course, and cast with your offhand. I like the ideas here. Item sets are probably the best way to go about it. Perhaps a limited number of "common" sets would make sense. If the weapons are small, you should get a speed bonus, if you use one for parrying and one main weapon, you get a small increase in attack strenghth and a small increase in dodge (which we'll use to simulate parrying). Such as a scimitar and a

Bug: The music bug is still in. Eventually when playing the game, the music from an event will keep on going forever. The queues for new events and whatever all get ignored. So that means that if you hit escape, it starts playing the Elemental theme, then switch back tot he game, it keeps playing forever. Sound effects don't seem to be affected. I usually turn off the music at this point. Bug: Disappearing Traveler's boots: This causes t

First up, I like the basic premise here. There is very little to stop you from stomping other faction's cities and doubling up on improvements for ubercities right now. Unless they finally fixed that bug. I always thought it strange that you could have two building that were the same thing, but just had different names. If you remember the game Master of Orion II, you could have multiple races in your faction. This was realy cool because you could ha

I can confirm this. If you tap the movement keys with the number pad just before the end of a move into the square completely finishes, it doesn't decrement the number of moves. I've repeated it with both land and sea units.

Always nice to hear from you, Frogboy. I find these little glimpses into the dark realm of game creation to be quite interesting. I'm very excited to see what you have in store for us with 1.1 and the future expansions. Keep up the great work. I, for one, certainly appreciate all the work you put into the game and all your hours of dedication. Cheers, Ishantil

Reply to City Morale? in WOM Ideas

The culteral technologies in Galciv2 really added an interesting element to the game that I would like to see branch out in Elemental.

Back in the day (hehe), Master of Magic had a morale system. Galactic Civilizations had happiness for civs, I think it would be cool to link resource items (spices, salt, silk, whatever) to happinses and be able to flip other cities with enough influence surrounding them. Perhaps cities could go neutral or even change sides based on bad morale and outside influence. You could also have happiness affecting spells. Just a thought.

A lot of good ideas here. Having a sheild/cover mechanic for obstalces and shields is a great idea. Tower shields and long pikes in phalanx formations! I like the idea of javelins, pilums, slings, and whatever else. Currently ammunition isn't in the game as a mechanic. Although you could probably adapt the mana mechanic to use it for ammunnition.

I like the idea of two branches (pardon the pun) of bow technology, one being crossbows for higher hit, only once per turn fire, and bows for not as much damage but a much better rate of fire. To be fair, though, a crossbow IS a development from the bow, it's considerably more complex to build a crossbow than to build a longbow. Here is my idea for the new technology tree: Archery Unlocks: Early Crossbows (technology for research) &nbsp

I just reloaded a game that that's fairly far in (Turn 112) and the music queues are still bugged. When I load the game, the main theme plays, when the game loads, the queue doesn't change to what should be the normal in-game music. So I'm back to playing music from an external source.

Glad to see the number of x64 improvements in there. Running into OOM errors is frustrating. Lots of great stuff in here. Keep up the good work, Stardock.

Darvin3, I have to agree with you totally. The stat scaling in Elemental is off by an order of magnitude. The early stuff game is too variable and the late game system is as well. Too many one shots or no possible chance scenarios. But that's for another thread, really. Robert: I did some reading on bows and crossbows before posting. Indeed, most late crossbows were capable of penetrating heavy armor, but were dangerous to use. Crossbow techno

Girls with pants! I like to make my archers female, and once I put armor on them, the skirts are no longer avaialble. What we need is battle skirts! In any event, when adding armor to females, they have bare knees once the armor is on them, makes them look silly.
