As another poster mentioned, It's one thing to set up a galaxy that is extremely weak against your play style (and then brag about it), but it is another thing to set-up a galaxy to be strong against your play-style, and post a turn-by-turn YouTube 'Let's Play' video explaining your strategy for overcoming the difficulties - all the way to the end of the game (with a Power Score & a Game Score). 1. Wish more people would put mods on NMM. 2. Someone should get creative and instead of posting pictures of what HUMANS think of as sexy, they should instead post pictures of what the ALIENS think of as sexy. Exactly what does the Yor or the Drengin think of as sexy? [e digicons]:|[/e]
There should be an option to attack someone inside your borders without declaring war. I have just exploited this by taking the pragmatic trait which makes you invulnerable to war declarations to park invasion fleets on suicidal near the best planets of the strongest opponent. In a single turn AI lost most of it's empire and there was nothing it could do about it since I had 50 turns to tune my invasion positioning and com
The game is won unless he screws up big time OR multiple AI surrender to a single one that doesn't like him. The next step is to pick a large enemy and get the pragmatic no war ideology active. Use that to park transports and warships near the opponents worlds and Blitz them in a single turn once everything is set up...
Exactly. That's why I stopped playing. The rest is a chore.

They should add that feature where there IS no diplomacy. Everyone is at war with everyone else the moment they come in contact with one another. Civ IV had that, but it was only between human and AI. Would like an Always War of everyone against everyone. In the meantime: starting new game Immense/Suicidal/Abundant/Abundant/Custom Race/Thalan Tech... but with a twist: 1. All the enemies are Yor Clones (8 or 9 of them) 2. I'm not all

For GC3 to be considered a good game, it just has to be better than its competitors. By that standard, this IS a good game. On the other hand, there's always things to gripe about. Thank you, Icemania. With the exploits and a good map, it is quite easy to win on Suicidal. No need to reload. The Let's Play was done with no reloading and I demonstrated pretty conclusively how it could be done. But yeah, maybe I should normal maps more with more AI. Thinking of changing ALL of the AI to Yor Clones.... Maybe Abundant/Abundant gigantic NO TECH TRADING (kills most exploits) but still lets me expand against 9 or 10 Yo
Come up with the concept of borders? Are you kidding me? These are FTL space-faring species and you think that not one of them has heard of a PB before? You know what it adds to the game? Player choice... how is that bad to give me the choice to play with options that I want to play with? Don't like that option in your games? Great! Don't play with it. I'll quote Seseme Street here, "You do it your way, I

I'd build up my worlds and wait for the late game to war. In the meantime bribe the AI to war on each other. I assume there's tech trading. In situations like this avoid war until the late game because otherwise you're probably playing into the programmer's evil plan. [e digicons]:D[/e] [e digicons]:D[/e] The trick is trying to figure out what the programmer hasn't figured out for and then take ruthless advantage of it. Onc
I've only won on Challenging, in a game in which I only ever really had to fight some Yor fleets that were my equal, but I actually enjoy combat and some micromanagement. My comment was a bit of a jab at marigoldran who has repeatedly insisted that he doesn't bother to fight wars because he picks settings that allow him to colony spam a hundred planets and then quits.
There are many posts (mainly by one individual) on how easy this game is to win. My post is how to make the game extremely difficult to win or at least in less than 200 turns. First off pick a galaxy appropriate for the number of factions playing the game, this is what I suggest... ( I know I missed a few but, you get the idea) 5 tiny 10 small 30 medium 40 large 50 gigantic 60 immens

This, I believe, is a MUCH better way of analyzing and evaluating GC III's AI than writing "I think the AI should be like so and so." Valid posts in this thread should include a COMPARISON to another AI along with analysis of different AI behavior across games. Evaluating GC III's AI in ISOLATION is pointless and silly. For example: Civ IV's AI is better at setting rally points for creating stacks of doom. Civ IV's AI consistently cre
Costs. You can do that I am sure but I know the AI will take advantage of wars the same as we do dog piling other AI and gaining planets. When you think about it deeply though, with so many settings its hard to tell what type of game we all actually play and what causes the things we hear. Just thatthe expected play style didn't match the game that was played. Least there are patchs making the game more balanced little by li
The best strategy that I have found when I play with the Terrans is... Turn Earth into 100% science and research Interstellar Travel. Rush a cheap colony ship and settle Mars. Rush more colony ships as you see fit but leave about 1000 credits for maintenance costs. Turn Earth into 100% product

You don't play the game before making suggestions, you constantly complain, AND YOU HAVE TO SCREAM AT US ABOUT EVERYTHING. gtfo Edit- Calmed down a little, but the majority of it stands.
