paintshop pro is a good alternative to photoshop, not as expensive. for 3d rendering... none of them are cheap, if you are doing landscaping, get bryce5, u can get a great deal on that now. for modeling... 3dsmax is preferred but very expensive as with all other similar software <img src="http://images.stardoc

@ I.R. Brainiac... thanx for that info, i was looking for how to hide userpic. just one question, what do you do if you get rid of the userpic, and you want to reallign the username over the area where the userpic used to be? (how do u do this through skinstudio... i know u can just uncheck show usericon in winblinds ) <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&NewsID=913"

if u have nero, use nero's incd to make a rw jsut like a floppy, u can add, remove files etc. and btw, look around and u'll c that its not unusual to be able to get a 50 pack of *FAST* cd-r's for free after rebate (i have a closet full of free cd-rs... and toasters as well) <img src="http://images.stardock.com/im

BootSkins will only run on WindowsXP and win2000 (which is still infinitely better than 98) <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmi

o yea, and any background elements cant be translucent, only transparent (you cant make window borders translucent, onto desktop, you cant make startpanel background translucent and c ur desktop thorugh it, etc.) the mroe programs arow should be able to be a tga, mouseovers form menu items can be tga, logoff and shutdown button elements can be tga, separators can be tga... thats about it for the startpanel. for everything else u need to use a bmp, with transparent pink. (and the more programs me

hmmm, i lost my bryce a while ago, but now i am using vue'desprit. the same applies here, anyone cna play around and make some shiny spheres and stuff, but it takes real talent to create something that is ART. check out some of the pic created with it on their website (these are NOT shiny spheres and stuff) http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Gallery/Gallery.php <img src="http://images.stard

umm...im not sure, when u click on 127.0.0.1 it should have nic: ms tcp loopback adaptor, i belive only the loopback adaptor uses that ip as for your wan ip address, im not sure why sysmetrix would crash... im monitoring my network fine. perhaps its your os? im running winxp.

yea... i believe sysmetrix gets the username from the name of the user folder in documents and settings, unfortunately because of windowsxp security settings, that name is unchangeable (even by windowsxp lol), so creating a new account and getting rid of the old one is the only way to completely change it <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by Skin

if u read my post on the other thread, i said, bootskin is not supported by win98, so no way of changing ur boot screen there. and if u try to jsut copy the uxtheme.dll and the other files, ur puter would blow up because the files fo rthe win98 boot screen are nowhere near the same or compatable with winxp files. and plus, if you still have win98, an update is long overdue. <img src="http://i

make sure with tga file that you edit the alpha layer, you must define in the alpha channel which parts to be transparent, translucent, opaque, etc (edit the alpha layer, the darker=more transparent, black = transparent, and lighter = less transparent, white is fully visible, etc.)

12 Replies 8,982 Views

well, 127.0.0.1 is usually the default for microsoft loopback adapter also, if you use proxies, sysmetrix might not be able to c ur ip. and try the newest version of sysmetrix, maaybe that will fix it if you do a clean install

well, iconpackager changes htm icons, but it doesnt seem to be able to handle htmls,no matter how hard u try (or maybe it was the other way around, i dont remember) also, sometimes iconpackager confuses the icons of different file types ans switches them, so you might have to right click on the specific file, icon tab, and change it manually there. also, does anyone know what happened to changing briefcase icons? <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=

for some reason, ever since around last november, i havn't been able to see the nomodify system folder shellstyles on any of the skins. I can still see the controll panel, and music/videos/pictures/search shellstyles, but when i open a system folder all i get is the blank page with no pic in the bottom right hand corner. I have opened the files in skinstudio, and they all have the picture defined there. I was wondering if it was a bug with windowblinds, or some setting i forgot to change? <

that happens every now and then to me. try copying the actual wallpaper document onto your desktop or another folder, and not inside a zip file, then apply the wallpaper (rightclick, set as desktop background) from there. hope this helps
