I'm going to copy & paste comments I made to the sovreign in another post.....generates more conversation. These sovereigns are world-benders for a reason. I agree that a large portion of the solution lies in how they handle magic, but would be very against the "all sovereigns have all schools" method of doing so. First and foremost because of how it would dilute both the ability to gain high
@GFireflyE Actually you may be right, if things go messy with overlapping ZoC's of each single outpost, it may be better just avoid stacking ZoC's. As for the city types, I am happy that you agree with me, although rock-paper-scisssors may not be the best example for what I had in mind. In rps everything is random and there is no skill required to play. What I meant is that there should be reasons to go with d

Sure, but AI isn't going to suck in the final release, is it? Stardock could design with that in mind.....simply making the 'new leader' stronger if the AI had lost the leader....
@ marionesi Step 1: Starbases: I would sooner like to see a "you get the bonus or you don't" approach. None of this 'stacking' stuff. Stacking stuff can be abused. Step 3: Fantastic idea. Obtaining a special bonus for maximizing a shard is a really cool idea. Step 4: I too
And it's funny cause they're doing a 32-bit win 8 too. It's awesome cause the people are actually having a voice this time around. Most often the mob is ignored. Companies can put out 64-bit only apps....sure, but they cut out a large portion of their sales market to do so. Hense, they've been making it 32-bit compatable to make more money. That's the cycle. Greed. Not user restrictions.
Purple is Power. nuff said.
Auto turn would be annoying. When do you go do your city maintenance??? I tend to move my troops...then do city maintenance....then do strategic anaysis. Autoturn would just get in the way of things not happening when they are suppose to.....phew....good thing there is an option to turn it off. XD
This is definately something that I've raised my eye about in FE. The leaders don't die. Why? They're on the battlefield. They are a unit. They should be able to die. It might really really suck for your leader to die.....but that's life. I propose "succession planning" be implemented. Let me explain. Your leader has just fallen. Woe is your great nation. What ever will you do? Do you give up? Do you concede? Sure, that might
Colonization? Nobody mentioned this?
I totally would have in my opening post, but the cut line had to be made somewhere...not to mention that it had to go up against MoM. Colonizations IS a really good game though.
I've never used autobuild functions in any 4x game. AI can wreck things so fast. Games like Distant Worlds is especially annoying as it's a management game more than a 4x game, except that instead of managing, all you end up doing is fixing the AI's mistakes. My opinion is that this is an added and unneccessary function that should not be focused on. The point is to play the game...not have the AI play it for you.

I have yet to see a TBS in which any queue has been able to have this power. I disagree. Civ 4 largely achieves this. Most buildings in Civ4 have no or low maintenance costs. The constraint for virtually all of the game is that you only have enough production to b

I think his statement/assumption is central to creating a great new 4X (or at least, 4X-like game); and I'd love to know your thinking on the subject, and/or get an answer to his question. Please, please, please ... This also gives me another opportunity to reiterate my own personal Mantra on this subject: <br /
WOW WOW WOW!!! This game is looking better and better all the time!!! Really like the update!! Really like the city specialization!! Really like the inclusion of Essense.....kinda like Nightshade on MoM...kinda. Really like how cities now upgrade buildings, outposts, and resources. Fantastic move! There is ONE little thing that I'm worried about from your update....you mention in the update that outposts will now be conquered like cities instead of destroye
Good Morning all So, in another recent thread I began thinking about my top 5 games. It's turned into a top 10, but I broke it back into top 5 (Dos) and top 5 (windows). Out of curiosity and fun, I welcome opinions as to what your top 5's are. I'll start: Top 5 Vintage (Dos Age) Tie Fighter Master of Magic Privateer Betrayal at Krondor Torment - Planescape Top 5 Modern (Windows Age) Dragon
Wow. Many are tossing Darmok on their lists. My list is above, but I sure never considered Darmok to be anywhere near the top... personal preferances I guess...

While not quests, I really like the way fantastic creatures can be added. Being able to summon magical beasts is only half of the experiance, imo, because every wizard can potentially do this. I came across one quest/item that I thought fit PERFECTLY. 'The Knights of Asok' quest thingy. When you conquered the location, you had the option of building those units at that city. WOW! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do more of this with other fantastic creatures. <br /
