I can't believe it's taken then this long. Hell, even though the prices went up, it's still cheap as hell. Some of you are very bitter. Think about how much it used to cost to rent a movie from Blockbuster, or any other rental movie outlet. Netflix is still cheap! Not to mention the amount of bandwidth it requires to stream full length shows and movies. Do you have any idea how much that bandwidth costs?
^ This

Pardon the "newb" questions, but it's been awhile I've installed anything new for Elemental. Are we to place the "zzz_Artifact" folder directly into the mods directory? I'm assuming we should delete the old Artifact folder (my older version of Artifact is currently installed in the "ACP" directory). Lastly, I still have an UpdatedWeapons folder with "Murteas_Equipment_Upgraded.x

^ THIS. An option to keep the quotes or remove them would be the best solution; keeps everyone happy. I understand the reasons stated, but like I said, the only reason I hadn't pointed it out sooner is because I wasn't playing for the past few months. I hate to waste all the time I made on my mod that added all sorts of quotes for various units. [e digicons]:S[/e]

You know, I hadn't noticed it since I hardly played since I updated, but sure enough it IS gone. Is this a 'bug'? If not a bug, then what an extremely o dd choice to remove such a small, harmless, yet fun feature that adds a needed bit of character to the game.
The seasons are basically random in length. They last X number of years. So the current summer lasted 8 years but the previous winter lasted 4 years or something like that.
I haven't read the books, but are you sure that "winter" isn't simply a metaphor for generally hard times/war? Because if you're correct, that's an awf

The OP was funny enough, but I was surprised I didn't see "PURCHASE THE DLC FOR ONLY $5.99 TO FINISH THE LEVEL!!" or something of that nature, to truly represent today's way of gaming. Definitely needed that.

I've found this as well in 1.11; before I thought I may be the only one experiencing this due to heavy mod installation. Although I never messed with the core folders, and recently removed all mods just in case, and shields still looked black and blank. It's definitely a problem after updating to 1.11, as shields looked perfectly fine for me beforehand. Anyone know if this has been fixed in 1.19, or if there is hopefully plans to fix in the future?

I've only seen this happen on a playthrough video so far, but it honestly doesn't look that bad. Almost looked like the ground was rightfully left ablaze from it... almost. Not that it shouldn't still be fixed eventually, but I'd much rather see more important issues focused-on and solved long before something so minor/harmless (like the seemingly-unkillable OOM crashes STILL plaguing many people's games).

Thank you for clarifying that, Kyro. Makes a lot more sense now.
lol Its just part of the beta. If you don't like it, then don't take part.
Before you 'lol' too hard over this -- you're missing the point. I (among others) want to take part, but not all of us are lucky enough to have constant access to an internet connection.

Wow, I never realized this since I typically stay online when opening Elemental by coincidence. Thanks for pointing this out. And I know there isn't an official ignore button on this forum, but could we please get one made just for Xiatroll? [e digicons][/e]

Some of the work-arounds you guys find to ease the woes of such limited modability is astounding. Not to get slightly off topic, but does tag Cityname in the XML for factions serve any purpose? Or was this one of those old tags that no longer does anything? Because it sure doesn't seem to do anything regarding capital names (would be fantastic if the AI could recognize such a thing).

^ I'm sure some have had much better luck who haven't played extensively, especially earlier versions. But I cannot take anyone seriously who boasts they haven't had ONE problem after the initial public release of this game (nothing against Stardock either; it's uncommon to truthfully claim this about any game of this complexity). In other words, it's loosely claiming Elemental has been "bug-free" after 1.00. That's just blatant tr
Other then the original release I have never had any problems with this game.
Not one problem since 1.00?? Okay... miracles can happen, but a very unique combination of conditions would have to be met for the above statement to be even remotely possible (completely regardless of how godly one's rig may be):<
The point is to play, test new mechanics and/or balance , find things that crash and/or are broken, and report the problem and the appropriate files. In payment for that you get to try new things early and have a little more voice in how things shape up. Every time they post a big new beta patch we get people complaining how this beta is obviously "borked" 2 hours after the beta is available. How dare they not test the beta on beta testers before releasin

Because I already got an obscene amount of OOM crashes. If I'm getting even more than before, I literally wouldn't even be able to PLAY LONG ENOUGH to test anything. That's why.

254 Replies 119,230 Views

^ Christ.... an OOM crash that early... and you've never had it that bad until now? Sounds pretty clear that the beta borked more than it improved. DEFINITELY waiting longer before getting this one.... dammit.

^ I've noticed the exact same thing happen with Angels as well (also prior to 8.4 update). Couldn't do anything treaty-related while playing as Angels. Not sure if this has since been addressed or not; regardless, I'm glad I'm not the only one who experienced this particular issue.

It makes sense now. When installing a mod, sometimes it just makes me feel uneasy when I have to move specific files out of the file structure like this, but understanding why it's done this way helped a lot. Thank you. [e digicons]k1[/e]

Sorry, but I don't quite follow how to install the Elven weapons patch. When you download Expanded Factions, it comes with it's own version of the xml file (expandedfactions_elvenweaponry.xml) in one of the Expanded Factions folders. The file supplied here however (expandedfactions_elvenweaponry1.1.xml), is to be installed in the 'UpdatedWeapons' directory. So do we install both files in the two different locations and run them simultaneously?&nb
