Ok i managed to make a spell that does not take an essence slot, but it seems to be permanent - i can't turn it off, mind you i made it so it does not stack. I'm about to make a version that has a duration effect.
Does anyone know where the code defining "Friendly City" is ?
Ok "city curse" affect where the spell is organized in the spell book. I need to figure out what the mechanism is that makes it use an essence slot. I'm going to try to sidestep that issue by looking at path based abilities.
testing a spell, will give an update. I currently have a working spell, but it uses an essence slot, so i will look at other examples for abilities. Be back in half an hour I have an idea to look at. edit- will give the city curse a shot, it might work.
It was an oversight. They didn't plan for it when the ability was put into the custom faction creator. That being said, it doesn't take too much to mod one into the game. So many things on a todo list sigh.
I must be in the minority then lol i think their rather beautiful over all, the cornering is sometimes iffy, but hey it is randomly generated. First time i saw them animated i weas all OoooOOOO niiiice.....
after i changed the names in for the second version i assumed there was a problem overriding the main files but you say it worked for you... odd. What did you name the xml file ?
Heavenfalls escape scroll trick isnt working for me, so i need to look a little deeper. I will deal with that tomorrow. Does anyone know if the venom bows are working properly ?

Ok i got them both in, the names were conflicting - i only use the original names to reference the graphics.
I've had some partial success, i changed all the crude shortbow references to basic shortbow, but now i have no graphics - i have archers with invisble bows :P I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the art references got changed too lol
Here's the xml i'm working with, i can't think what's not making it work. It should be available for making a unit just like the club, but i don't see it appear. I have it in a xml file in the mods folder under the name CrudeShortBow.xml : EDIT: should i change the entry in coreweapons instead in the main folder, or replace coreweapons in the mod folder ? &n
at the moment im trying to mod some bows - i'm having trouble getting it to work, so far i see my problem being my xml file is being read as a txt file - so i just installed a free xml editor off the web to try and fix that :P i'm going to make the crude bow and ignys shortbow available to the special archery faction ability.
see xia, this is why stardocks gave you a pony to play with in the game.... ONtopic: I'm currently playing on hard/hard mediem size, extra random, wildlands. struggling with this one. I find i'm at a disadvantage when i don't get crystal near my first city - but that's a matter of playstyle and i'm using my troops better without it.

wont work anymore, spells now go off in quick resolve.
I like th ability to gain control of bandits but it pales in comparison to the tame beast ability. So how would you changes bandits so they can have their equipment be upgradeable? And what do you have to change on syndicate to make them "bandits". Then we want to change the syndicate assasin to be like a henchman with inventory etc.
I treasure a game where wealth is buillt of the skins off of small, furry animals. War is a bloodbath.

Ntino, you say you are trying to talk about this in a respectful manner. If you consider yourself a professional gamer, then i would imagine you would take the time to analyze the game a bit more, after all it doesn't take that long to look at the tech tree. You say you couldn't find a bow. There are 4 bows to unlock in the tech tree, you can start the game with one on a custom sov, with a custom faction you can get improved bows for another 3 bows to unlock. I personaly find
you do still make them use one of those turns getting up, how is that a bad thing ? Or do you mean it should be more obvious that is happening ?
err that would make it work as designed... i'll pay more attention in my game when i train them. It seemed to be working fine though.
depends on whether its hard coded or not - it probably is.
