Brad - for the first time in EWOM or FE I lost a game last night to your ridiculous strategic AI (and proud to admit it!) Was playing Verga and straight up got mobbed by stacks and stacks of Magnar archers. That is progress! Not sure if the stars aligned but felt good about losing a game - for real. Uninstalled and reinstalled - same thing. Doesn't matter Sov, faction, etc. still leads to crashes. I'll start a new game, 3-4 turns then crash, all debugs ending with the goodie hut thing. I'm not seeing anyone else post about this problem, so am wondering if there's something corrupted on my machine that doesn't remove from an uninstall. Been playing fine since last release until now so at a loss as to what's causing this.
No matter what I do, starting new games, loading, etc. the game will crash with the last mention in debug file as the saving goodie huts thing. Dead in the water!
All of my debugs are crashing with the last note in debugs as "Debug Message: Saving Goodie Huts". Several emails with all files sent to [email protected] .
Had issues last night playing beta as it said I wasn't logged in. Nothing I could do would fix it. Tried again an hour or so ago and all prior saves when loading will crash the game. Starting new games will allow about 3 turns played but then will also crash on end turn. Whatever's going on at the moment is making the game unplayable.
I had problems as well last night with the authentications. Today, none of my saves will work, including brand new games. I can play maybe 2-3 turns on a new game and then crashes, rinse and repeat. Completely unplayable at the moment. Sent emails to [email protected] .
I remember dialog during EWOM about rushing. I think the solution of city militia is a good one and can be further balanced by increasing the quantity and/or strength of the early game militia.
For the last bullet I believe the mouseover on map size does tell the user the recommended numbers of players.

I wonder if the devs could introduce some traits where heroes may refuse to party with others due to jealousy, politicking the sovereign for favor, random fights over women (jk), basically don't like each other kind of thing. May be better than a mechanical hard cap on how many heroes in a stack and introduce a little random personality stuff (since we don't have dynasties). I dunno it's late and I'm thinking out loud. Maybe the devs need to add some traits like "Lone Wolf - Refuses to party with other heroes" or "Obnoxious - other heroes refuse to party with champion" or "Chauvanist", etc. Maybe the devs, through these traits or others, could add further personality into the game where some heroes can't party with each other to limit stack of dooms.
Big fan of mana cap per tactical battle based off some stat like int or something. It worked quite well in MoM as other posters indicated.
In EWOM this would occur when an AI sovereign wouldn't found their initial capital or became pop locked and wouldn't build units or improvements. Unsure if the AI is suffering the same or similar fates with FE.

Hmm, some ideas: If you slaughter the other side's unrecruited hero, diplomatic penalties apply. For example, Kingdom kills Empire unrecruited champion "-1 You've killed our faction's champions". In addition, the opposite could be true, other Kingdoms might like it so +1 or w/e. Introduce early game defenses/bonuses to unrecruited champions so slaughter doesn't happen until closer to midgame - gives factions early game the chance to recruit. Maybe rais
