Great work everyone. I definitely want to contribute to this soon. By the way, are we going for Rivendell-esque elves, Mirkwood-esque elves, or Lothlorion-esque elves? Because some Elves would live only in tree platforms, while others use forest ground cover as their home, and others build actual buildings. It seems like we have contributions from all three types.

Does anyone know where in the XML we can increase the default max unit and army size? (Currently 12 and 12). What I want to find out is what the maximum number of units you can even fit on the tactical map at a time.
Here's what I think should be done: 1. Completely scrap the campaign that exists now. The campaign is short, underwhelming, and buggy right now. It simply doesn't do the game's lore any justice. 2. Create a nice, in-depth tutorial using the latest game mechanics. Use Elemental's lore, characters, and setting, and whatever else to make a super-duper tutorial that jiv
The game is a little confusing when it comes to armies, stacks, units, etc. Here's a refresher with all the technology unlocked: 1 Unit can have up to 12 Soldiers 1 Army can have up to 12 Units So, in total, we can have a maximum of 144 Soldiers per battle per side and <span style="color: #808
Hey guys, it sounds like Brad is still going to do battles like the one on the back of the box. He just posted this today: "In the near term, multiplayer is on the box so this has to be delivered and we apologize for the delay." I guess he means, that if it's on the box, he's going to deliver it! Yea! (Sorry Serapth, and the rest)

I don't think the monsters are actually coming into existence after researching adventuring tech. I think it simply means that you have learned about their existence like resources. I think, really, that it's just a sneaky way to make the challenge level go up the longer you've played. You can think of it as your civilization expanding and as more people join you, you are becoming more "aware" of the big world around you.

There's too much to enjoy in the game to let that one aspect get me down. I guess, it just wasn't quite what I was expecting.
Try the epic pacing setting, it definitely helps, especially on large maps.
But the "epic" setting doesn't mean the game will last "longer", it just means it will be more exciting and dramatic, right? Here's a few options I'd like to see added: 1. ARROW KEYS HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL SCROLLING! Seriously, this is such a common strategy game convention, I'm shocked it's not a part of Elemental. Scrolling by moving the cursor to the edge of the screen and "dragging" the terrain works fine, but allowing us to use the arrow keys will give us the ability to use our mouse and keyboard simultaneously. The carpel tunnel
This has probably been brought up before, but I don't think I've seen a thread dedicated to it, so I'll just post it. Monsters, champions, adventures and all non-faction NPCs need some help. Just to be clear, the game already has most of this stuff built in to an extent, it just needs some fleshing out to make it more fun. 1. Their AI needs to be improved. Right now, they act like mindless zombies doing absolutely nothing other than attacking your caravan
Honestly, I wouldn't bat an eye if we just got rid of the books/campaigns altogether. Build us a decent tutorial and leave it at that. Spend all of your precious time on the sandbox game.
Quoting GaelicVigil, reply 11 Elemental offers something fresh and new, not seen since Master of Magic. There is real tactical battles, quests, role-playing, marriages and dynasties, heroes and villains, fantasy stories, rich modding tools, and so much more. I'm willing to invest in new, fresh ideas, even if the road is a little bumpy and less trod. I am done investing in worn-out repeats. How about AoW:SM,
As much as I love the total conversion mods (kudos to the guys doing Dragonlance), bug fix mods, and mechanic-changing mods, I would love to see more pure content mods. What do I mean by this? Well, I want to see more stuff that is purely cosmetic and aggregate . So as soon as the full modding download network is enabled in Elemental I would love to see long lists of assets that simply add to the game without changing any gam
Now, v1.1 won't be some completely new game. It'll have a re-done UI in parts and the magic system is changed.
This is actually good to hear. I don't want Frogboy to think that the entire game is pure bunk. Most of the game is absolutely fantastic, it's just a few pieces that need some work. In other words, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater
I love Elemental the more I play it. I spent several hours last night on an Elementerra random 128x64 map and had a blast. This game is so deep. I'm on about turn 700, have played this game around 12 hours so far, and am still only about half-way through the tech tree. I have not had a single crash the whole time on my two year old laptop. Contrary to common belief, the AI is actually pretty good, I am in last place among all the factions and keep getting my butt
This may sound hard to believe, but there are people who love the game as it is right now. I have been playing for hours and am having a blast. I personally think all the negativity is a little overblown. The game has some rough edges, but is otherwise really awesome. I can definitely see this game becoming a classic over time like MoM, Civ, and X-Com. This may be one of the only games in history where reviewers will have to do a re-review in a few years because
That's incorrect. For something to be epic, it must be large in scale. It is a requirement. The scale can occur with the number of units, the amount of drama, the amount of action, the amount of comedy, but they must all be large in scale to be considered "Epic". So, the scale of anything can increase it's epicness. In the case of this thread, the scale of the battle (aka the number of units) will make it more epic. You've just pro
Quoting GaelicVigil, reply 100 No, it was not epic. It was action-packed, it was intense, it was exciting, but it was not large in scale which is a requirement for something to be epic. Facts are facts, this is the definition of Epic as I've pointed out using credible sources. Just because you've been misinformed for a long time and have defined it that way your whole life doesn't make it so. Considering that
Yes, and making battles larger will make it more epic. Epic would be a perfectly fine word to use for a really big star, it would be perfectly fine to use for anything that has "more" or is "bigger" than the rest. So an army of 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 dragons annihilating 100,000,000 zombies is more epic to you than a lonely heavily wounded hero defeating an evil necromancer before he is able to sum
