There are a few reasons that I do not post videos. The first is that I do my play-throughts on three different computers: my desktop, a relatively modern laptop and a old hardened XP laptop I take on location. While I could set up audio gear and video recording on my desktop, there's no way I can do so on the laptops. The second is that I use these threads to argue points. It's much easier to do so by linking to a post than asking someone to look at 1

My advice is (1). My feelings are actually closer to (2) but only because the instant roads are amazingly inefficient and offend my min-maxing instincts. I'd like to be able to have a way not only to build my own, but to also demolish roads that I do not like. I love snaking, because it allows me to pull a variety of tricks, and because, old engineer that I am, I find beauty in a shape that's crystallized function.

I just found the Darkling cloak, which is a game changer, like the collar, the champion's lance, or skulla's mace. I think I'll add a new house rule: no casting darkness from the Darkling cloak. I had not planned on rushing the AI in this game, but I do not believe in playing suboptimally. Lets look at the situation: Karavox is rich, just got his second city, and Jack's army is quite good for turn 28. Furthermore, Karavox can recruit Kingdom

Aesome idea. That's for Master's Affliction, right? And screw turn X triggers. Can you make it level dependent? So that when the army leader levels high enough, he decides to start his own little keep...

In Mount and Blade, it was the same thing. Whoever claims that the assassin is 'broken' is simply wrong. The assassin is arguably the most versatile class in 1.02, and has been so since at least .913 I level my sovereign into an assassin 90% of the time, and I can't complain about the way he performs. The first post of this thread has links to the play-throughs in which assassin sovereigns (and supporting heroes) kick ass. I also plan to leve

This will be yet another of my play-throughs. The purpose of this one will be to demonstrate a starting strategy for a race that has no particular 'overpowered' 'exploits', i.e. a race with none of the overly effective synergies that lead the player into a particular strategy. This will be, at least in the beginning, a very meticulous description of every turn, and I will try to include the reasoning that goes with every choice. Thus, do not hesitate to a

It seems that #2 is gathering more support. So, what should the race be? I guess that the following are OUT: Krax blood, Men blood, Trog blood (these blood perks lead you into a specific strategy) slave lords, archers, death worship, flesh bound tome (lead you into a specific strategy) wanderlust, heroic (quest loop) binding, stealth, master scout, enchanters, cult of a thousand eyes (game changing advantages) Also OUT are "Beastlord" a

1) You can work to maintain good relations, and it has SOME effect. Unfortunately, this effect is rather small, and while it can be useful for making sure that a similarly-aligned nation does not attack you, it will not make you much safer from a more powerful, opposite-aligned neighbor. And on top of that, once that opposite-aligned nation attacks you, everyone more powerful than you is likely to join, at least on Expert and above. So, yes, in most cases, if you are actua

I really hate it when I'm missing a joke... But I hate it even more when I look up a joke, and then wish I could unremember everything about it.

There was a time, I was doing a lot of play-throughs, and I have another period of enforced rest coming. So I was thinking about doing one of two play-throughs: either (1) a grossly overpowered race/sovereign combo on Insane, so that the developers take a good look at the quest loop, or (2) an Expert attempt with a race/sovereign without ANY good abilities/synergies (no stacked dodging, size manipulation, jugs, quest loops, enchanters, scouting, etc) i.e. something that a newbie could

It's great you are adding the female sovereign mod. Are you considering adding the snaking mod? Especially for the new rivers. I have had the worst luck so far. EVERY game I've played, I've had the EXACT wrong river show up. Death for my Angels, etc... Quick question... you are including female henchmen, but who can make henchmen? Apart Altar, obviously.
Any tips for dealing with Ophidians? I cringe every time I see a stack.
Ophidians are a problem mainly because of their deadly bite. You may have the armor to endure their regular attack, but the deadly bite will seriously damage you. So it helps if you keep track of who has used their x3 attack, and who has not. Obviously, try to kill those who have yet to use the deadly bite before they do, and make sure to pull back you

Hell, I am sure we have all seen the AI settle cities in which it cannot build ANYTHING but a pier, because all 4 adjacent tiles are swamps/rivers.
how does this have anything to do with land rejuvenation btw?
Right now, land in a city ZoC becomes fertile. Usually, it does not matter, because the tiles are too close to the center of the city doing the rejuvenation, but if you snake far enough, you start rejuvenating tiles that you can actually settle. As the minimum distance between cities is significantly more than 4, auto-built cities never rejuvenate any use

I really, really hate it. No more land rejuvenation? We will HAVE to use outposts to link remote cities? I can think of three more things that would be directly influenced by this suggestion. Crap. I would love an AI that goes after the leader rather than the little guy. I'm sure the AI will evolve. I do not consider this a serious problem. Increase the difficulty to the point where you stop having fun winning this way, then look for another strategy. It CAN be done even on insane, but for that you will need the Altar quest loop (At least, that's the only way I have won on Insane without fighting)
