Given that: 1. I find standard henchmen better than Champions (three free abilities at level 1, stat boosts from city of origin, starting equipment) 2. You have extra traits. 3. You have extra buildings for the city of origin. 4. You intend to make the henchmen cheaper. 5. You have them available from the get go. I will make a guess: If I were to play your mod, I would use henchmen a whole lot :-)

I really wish we could have the choice to move+loot for the price of one move, as well as being able to attack all stacks on one tile for the price of one move (you can still break the assault by canceling a fight) I have literally an year of game time clearing stacks of pioneers, scouts and other trash from a land bridge. And this was with a stack with 4 move. I think I counted 17 stacks.

I've had this happen in a game of mine. I had contact with 5 AIs on turn 20. After I explored for a while, I attributed it to the 7-8 wildlands that had pretty much blanketed the West and South part of the map. If you have many wildlands on a random map, that may be it.

Derek, this has been happening at least since .913. I have this situation in pretty much every single saved game of mine, and I have a series of saves (in .98) which show Magnar going from 2 stacked blades on turn 11, to 3 on turn 22, to 5 on turn 30. I am sure that he kept going, I have saves every 3-5 turns until 90ish. And no, Magnar did not have 5 champions on turn 30. I think it is enough that he has one in his stack, and keeps missing his target. People have also b

Yes summoned units should get attack/defense/dodge bonuses per level. There's a reason that the crow line is the only bound elementals I use. You want an instant, trivially easy to implement fix to the summoner class? Have it add perks to the summons. +1 something per level.

Yes, city defenders should be orders of magnitude tougher than they are now. In every single way. 1. Numbers. We can safely assume that city population is the number of body able men and women. How many people does a city population lose when it changes hands? That's how many people maximum should be fielded in a city defense. Yes, that means that cities should field more people against a bear attack than against an enemy nation. This should be capped by th

Is anyone else seeing this?
I see it with Regeneration, in .982 It lingers, especially on quest tiles. I'll keep an eye to try and figure other specifics.

I love the story. It is hitting me how much more pleasant it is to read an AAR written in character, especially one about a sympathetic character. By the way, can you let us know what season (turn) it is? Good luck to Deb!
1000 Gildar at the start it a lot, right?
Yes, it would have been a lot slower without Wealthy. But (nearly) every nation has a trick that will take it to victory. The problem is to allow the player to survive until the nation blossoms... Which is why Stardock really needs to work on Monster AI. At least at lower levels, it should be deterministic enough so that players get a break. Even in .98 I've had citi

I find it too slow as well, but I keep telling myself that it is for the best. In Beta 3, by turn 100 I had often eliminated 5-6 nations by conquest. Once I had a population 1066/production 366 city by turn 96. In Beta 4, one could get insane production really quick. Once I had a city with production 140 by Turn 35. It had been founded on turn 16. Clearly, the developers thought that was too quick. There's no argument that it has been slowed down A LOT.

I would like to suggest a contest. All level 1 champions are eligible, male and female, human or fallen. The name of the contest says it all, really: "The champion my sovereign loves to see" Who is the level one champion that you're always happy to see when you start a new game? It may be because he's amazingly useful out of the door, because she has the potential of becoming a powerhouse, because he carries great gear, or even because she looks like your wife and

I dislike ranged life-drain type spells. They taste cheesy. Wellspring is brutally effective on high difficulties (x2 and x3 monster hps) I wish there was a melee life drain buff, though. (death shards + 1)% of damage given to attacker, with 1 as the minimum. Actually, that may be too powerful, scratch the minimum, if the engine can do fractional hit points. Oh, and I agree 100% with the original poster. Heal should scale with mage power. Al

Armorer and General are the only ones I ever pick. Lately, with the reduces hero levels, I favor general. They, and Warlock are the only ones that both have a real impact and remain useful until the end. Warlock is a mage trait, though, and mages are ineffective at the difficulty settings at which I play.

Arggh! I did not see that .983 was out until I crashed on turn 35 or so, and was through the production starvation period. The game just became enjoyable! I am not restarting, at least not until I read through the changelog. --- It looks as if little in the new version would directly affect my particular setup. I would be getting 3 less research, but it's already just 1/5 of my total, and likely to drop below that. The rest is either irrelevant to m

I hardly tricked you. :-) I said very clearly "Nothing to see here. Yet." Or are you accusing me of unlicensed use of reverse psychology? I assure you, I did not want looking at my mess in progress. ------------- But before I really actually start playing, I have to say, I am very underwhelmed by Karavox. Second levels in Magic are a stupid pick, given that you are 99.99% guaranteed to get them on leveling, Cruel is a horrendous weakness, especially for an Empire
