Let me try this again, in very simple English: You are describing the way things work right now . But hey, don't take my and Sadurak's word! Feel free to test it.

The Death of Abeix Abeix had been roaming the world before a titan had ever put foot on it. These days, the elemental lord's domain had shrunk down to a mile wide fissure, but he still guarded it jealously. Many magic users had attempted to secure the power of the Pillar of Mascrinthus for themselves, but whenever anyone approached, Abeix rose from the depths and smeared their flesh and blood over the remains of their predec

Well, I'm going to pat myself on the back here, because on turn 67, I took down a Shrill Lord. I had been keeping it 'Tremored' for 5 seasons, until I could get Karavox and Neressa to Hunter's Lodge. Before the fight, I "Froze" it, so that its move would go down to one, allowing me to keep everyone bug Karavox out of harm's way. Karavox opened with "Slow", Naressa with "Blindness". It took three casts of "Blindness" before one stuck, but as soon

Frankly, I am worried that they will make the magic armor too good. If it is better than mundane plate, requires only crystal, and does not have prerequisites in the military tech tree, why the hell would anyone bother with heavy armor? On the way to "Arcane armor" you get a ton of uber-useful stuff. On the way to researching heavy armor, you get more outclassed equipment, and... War College?

It already is N people with D defense each. Every soldier already gets its own attack roll. (But not his re-roll, strangely enough) And you already get MOST bonuses per individual in the group, i.e. a +1 to fire attack ring gives you N total bonus to attack, and Auras give each soldier a boost. Note, there are exceptions: an unit throws a single throwing knife, an unit heals a single point from the troll charm. Unfortunately, none of these makes trained units scary eno

A question to the modders out there. Which of these are possible with the current engine? 1. Modifying the equipment of militia units depending on available techs (i.e. Civ got leather, so does militia) 2. Modifying the equipment of militia units depending on city level/type (i.e. The fortress got spears to spare) 3. Modifying the equipment of militia units depending on buildings (i.e. The merchants gave the watch some shields) 4. Modifying the equipmen

It will not work. Until city defense is equipped with at least the second best gear available to the nation, it will be irrelevant. Rushing a side should not work. And the AI is terrible at using low end units. Even at ridiculous, it is not until turns 60-70 that the AI has a prayer of stopping a well crafted fighting sovereign. A prayer, not an actually chance, mind you. That never really happens (at least not in .982)

The hunting of the Shrill The city of Hunting Lodge was the Empire's newest settlement, but its citizens knew that they were high in their Emperor's thoughts. Weren't they the first line of defense against the twisted hordes of Yithril? Didn't they have the most skilled governor in the Kraxis Empire? Didn't the city often receive Imperial grants to speed the construction of important facilities? The Hun

Are you sure that there isn't a city within 8 tiles of that 'special' tile? That would remove the option to settle it. I've had it happen in one of my play throughts... I had to raise an Yithril city to clear the old Imperium quest.

Ok, this AAR is NOT working for me. Not because I am about to get my city stomped into the ground on turn 60ish, but because the whole thing is boring to write. I am enjoying Frogboy's AAR, and I cannot even enjoy my own game, because I am writing "Karavox killed two bears, looted a rusty armor, took a dump, and wiped his fat butt". So, there will be some changes here. First, no more blow by blow accounting. With .984 around the corner, no one needs

Turns 41-63 Turn 41. Crystal Grove finished the monument and started a mason. Flying Waters finished the monument and started. developing a Death shard. Ceresa paid 80 Gildars tribute. Capital rushed the monument, and started a herbalist. Karavox killed a troll, and picked "Potential II". Naressa looted a band of insight. Turn 42. Flying Waters grows into a town. Factory finished the monu

Here is one that I really would like to see before release: Tremor and Freeze claim to immobilize an enemy army for two turns. In fact, (in .983) they only give you one turn of respite. Either change the description, or the effect.
They're still winning btw, I just bought a bit of a reprieve.
Ouch. Ouch. I have to admit, I have never gotten this far into a game of Fallen Enchantress since release .913 or so. That was the last time I was at the wrong end of a well-oiled war machine. All I can say is Good Luck with casting the Spell of Mastery... but how are you going to do that without resources? Can you at least get to the Maste

With this kind of mana and Earth magic, why did you allow them to occupy Charon? Could have kept them off their feet with Tremor, reinforced the garrison, and met them with Gift of Iron under the walls! Frogboy, are you toying with the weedle Trogs?

The Crow demons are super useful from turn 1 to the end of the game. The Death demons, properly nurtured, can act as meat shields up until the end. The Grave elementals are easy to use meat shields early, and not too useful later on. The Water and Fire are chaffe, at least the early versions. Never bothered with them, so I may be missing something.

Name your henchmen? Surely you can rename every unit, city, and outpost in the game already? The "Rename" button?

The option to build a one-per-world building disappears as soon as anyone begins construction. I'm not saying I like it, but that's how it is.

I think the eleven cities are split between the unexplored NW and the fogged area of the map - i.e. they used to be someone else's cities. I don't think there's necessarily any hidden wildlands, except maybe the Master Quest's warlord prison. But there's little point in guessing. Frogboy knows.

93 Replies 293,233 Views

No, thvazm, Frogboy has simply zoomed out enough to make it appear small. You can tell the zoom by the bright areas around units/cities/outposts. He has uncovered everything but the NW corner of the continent.

When a city has just enough food for the next level, and no more, it will be stuck at population one less than the one that can be supported. This particularly annoying when your city has 50 food, and is stuck at 49, preventing you from building all the growth buildings. This cannot be working as intended, can it? You are probably doing if(population + growth > food) effectiveGrowth = 0;</s

Yeah, it was the scaling of regeneration that made it too good in tactical combat. Of course, now it's completely worthless. At any point of the game, the level of the units that are worth the 1 mana maintenance is higher than number of life shards I control. I.e. the healing from regeneration pales compared to the healing from levels.

Yeah, I steer clear of darkling shamans, disciples of Pariden, haunters, dark mages, etc... Nowadays I obsessively check everyone who may be a caster for despair, coal stones, wellspring, and the like...

At this point, I think I have all the cities I need until I have a long term strategy, i.e. whom will I placate, with whom will I trade, and whom I will conquer. To do that, thought, I need to scout the other nations. I find it a bit weird that I have only met two out of seven opponents by turn 40, despite being in the middle. In any case, some comments: 1. Loot has been toned down in general, which is great. Still, there's problem with huge monsters wand
