Now, I'm not saying this shouldn't happen--but I'd expect this to happen on Challenging or higher, which is my usual play setting. Easy? Really?<
Not sure if this is a bug, but hopefully, it isn't feature. My first city at level 3 got the ability to build the Merchantcross Bazaar. I decided to hold off for a bit, and built a Grocer, first. After that, there was no option to build the Bazaar. No popup appeared stating that it had already been built. When I tried destroying other buildings, just in case the Grocer was in the way, I still didn't have the Bazaar as an option.

Ran across an instance of a darkling shaman/mage casting coal stones every turn. Or let's just say, 4 turns in a row, which was all it needed to destroy all my forces. Can't say whether it would have kept on, or just retired to the local darkling bar to brag about its amplified ability.
Frogboy, shouldn't fractions with the same alignment and positive relations (or at least such Kingdoms) stay away from the fight if the player has never been the aggressor before? I do not see the logic behind Procipinee joining on Yithril's side to beat up a peaceful Altar, no matter how high the difficulty.
Complete agreement. It makes no sense for this to happen. Working from the principle that the spell can only succeed if the subjects are willing to undergo its effects.
XP only, I think?
One day? Pretty good day, I'm thinking.
You should still get Windows 7.
I've taken seriously the recommendations of several people about this, but it's going to have to wait until next year. Too many necessary expenses. We just can't afford it at the moment, and I suspect I'm not the only one in the same somewhat leaky boat.
Looks like it's up, now.
Just in case you were wondering. Haven't seen a changelog, yet, but I suspect one will be coming. And if I recall correctly, this one's for WinXP, only.

4/2/1? Not to provoke argument, but I'm not sure why you find anything wrong with that. I've used that or something like it many times, with success.
I second this
If I understand Brad correctly, the modding tools would support at least mini-games along this line, through a series of branching quests. I have to say, I was certainly prepared to work with the code. It would be no worse than writing scripts for Oblivion and Morrowind. But this looks like it will make many things a great deal easier. Very much looking forward to getting my hand on the finished tools. :)

I really hope it gets dealt with. Because I wouldn't mind the billiard ball look if that's what I'd chosen for my sovereign, but in fact I hadn't.
I think it's important to take into account which leader and race you are playing when deciding this question. If you have access to scrying pools, then you essentially have essence in all your settlements, just not the same amount. It also helps to know whom your potential enemies are. If you're playing against Magnar, then having a fortress city with essence is probably a good idea, since you'll need some of those essence bonuses facing all his troops. At

Multiple champions in a party, each with their own specialties, makes it much easier to destroy higher level enemies. So it becomes a tradeoff of scale: sma
