It is just expected today. Even BG1 has some voice over. Also they said they need to pay for some plugins they used. If they tried to sell the game without paying that they would get some nice lawsuits against them.
It wasn't a case of "even BG had some voiceover." They had a large budget for the time, and they were deliberately trying for the cutting edge. Just having each character voice a s
Not only is there no reason to decline a quest, but if you decline it, the quest vanishes for good. What I'd really like to see are quests that remain behind if you decline them and actually get worse. Don't want to deal with buchermen who captured that logger? Perhaps later he could use what brains he has left to gather another butcherman or two and become a haunter.
SD, please make "No tech brokering" an option please. It works in GC2, it can work in FE.
It also worked very well in Civ IV. I'd like this as an option, but I don't think we'll get it--simply because selecting it would put AI opponents at a considerable disadvantage. And for some reason, some players seem to think that any options that leave the player in charge of
That does sound good. I only hope they can recoup their investment after the year starts.
Check over the last several forum pages, and you'll see several threads about the joys of the diplomatic AI rules. At the moment, they're probably the weakest thing in the game, with plenty of loop holes that translate into contradictory behavior on the part of your AI opponents, sudden shifts in attitude, mass declarations of war, etc. For example, I had a fellow kingdom AI like me less because I declared war on an empire AI it was also at war with:
Sounds like rational behaviour by the AI to me. He takes the chance of war when you are occupied in another war, instead of waiting until you get even stronger. He isnt so interested in just sitting on his back waiting to be annexed it seems....
I think you may be giving the AI rules benefit for too much depth. Time and again they are simply too blunt to allow reasonable diplomatic choices to be made by co

Hmm... by being a different game?
All the world loves a smart ass, as I tell my wife. ;) But we're both aware there are several game genres out there filled with clones that still get hyped by some players--and Eador's developers have stated in interviews that the HOMM series was among
I'm not sure why they thought voiceovers were so important that the game had to miss the holiday season--traditionally regarded as the best time to market games. They could always sell it now, promising a free add-on with voices if the game sold XYZ number of copies. But to hold out at this time doesn't seem especially wise. On a separate point: voiceovers...? I turn them off. I'd rather imagine a really good voice than hear a r

Have you checked out Stormworld?
Don't know if this is intentional, but I just started up a new game with 1.1. Found a faerie lair not 10 paces from my first city, and a roving band of three faeries, as well.
At the Easy level or lower, monsters won't attack your cities, or the AI's.
One has to wonder what the Devs were thinking. How could they release such an unstable patch?
In all honesty, the patch doesn't appear to have a lot of complaints because of instability. And the devs have been testing the game, and we've been beta'ing it, on both 32-bit and 64-bit WinXP and Win7 systems, with a lot and little RAM, for several months. This isn't to make light of your

(Some people in this thread have expressed this idea already, but i think it is worth repeating.)
But as your territory is localized and permeable, they can simply walk through and pick off favored spots, turning your lands into Swiss cheese. I'm not sure why this is standard. I recall the hue and cry around Civ IV before it

What you're seeing is a range of responses that monsters can take on any given turn. Sometimes they'll attack; sometimes they'll just sit, puzzled; and sometimes, they'll move away.
Diplomacy could have some work to be really usefull
Not could have, must have. As it is, so many triggers need to be worked to greater specificity. They don't make sense, and the thing's a mess. Consider: I just finished a game where Magnar was at war with Altair. I declared war on Magnar, and destroyed him. Checked Altair, and wonder of wonders.

There's no need to get some mythical balance across the board,
TBS Gamer has it right. We've been asking for access to our cities, or at least more info upon which to make informed decisions during leveling, for quite a long time. So far, nothing. I just make sure I look carefully at the next city down in my list, which always seems to be the next one to level, and decide what I want to do in advance. There's no problem with levels above two for me, because I find all but one of the choices in most cases either weak or out
