think the complaint/fix was more for melee attack, wasn't it? (usually like hitting and counterattacking)
art cost money... so i'd rather they just have different skins but do something else in the game that make the so called races different. as i've been saying. atm races and factions are pretty much the same thing, unless you create a custom faction. But faction is all that separate them with races pretty much equal unless you count equipment. which is a bit silly.
funny how xcom apoc was.... unfinished... given all those concepts that were in interviews of game mags but never made it into the game. i like the pausable real time stuff though.. quite a few amateur versions of xcom type game out there i think... there's the german once called x-force.. which i don't think is really going anywhere (looks about the same for the last few years!)... xenocide died.. ufo:ai is probably the one to watch..
df has some huge problems with storage..... or at least every time i play it, i get into serious trouble. like... i have a billion idle haulers, lots of nearby empty food piles.. and kitchens/etc clogged up with miasma because everything's rotting away in there! too many food piles i guess.. too much micromanagement needed.
nothing stop the current game being Matriarchal... you start with a queen.. and then all the grunts who do the dying and slaving away are men. those who hold power are women... you just don't see them.

... for some reason i had like 3 food and 2 shards and 2 metal at my starting position. with 1 gold mine 1 food (apiary) 1 arcane lib not too far away well, 1 of the metal is from custom sov. the 2nd shard is probably just luck. don't know where the other 2 food came from. (1 is the bee thingy) think they spawned. strangest thing is that some nearby coastline was revealed right at the start (just the coastline bit that you can't walk on... it's cl

still not fixed as of 1.1 custom kingdom made after 1.1 update. started game in same elemental session.. can pick it as ai. picked it as player instead, started game, exited to windows. started elemental again, start new game, can't pick as ai faction. (can pick it as player faction though)
just updated mine... 1.09n[b].108->1.1... only 40.12 MB win7 64 seems to have gone fine (haven't gone in game yet) --- i noticed that my "beta" tickbox wasn't ticked after i updated... maybe it wasn't ticked when i did the update..
it's not just the speed, most isp have some sort of bandwidth cap.
first thing they should do is figure out what the role of a minor faction should be. aside from baby machine. otherwise... not much point.

much like my other comments on unique dungeons/resources... quite simply if heroes are not randomly generated and spawned (so there's an infinite supply), then they should spawn regularly, with the tech limiting who a faction can recruit rather than spawn on research. unlike dungeons/resources they don't need to be all spawned at game creation, because you don't need them taking out all the cities nor a whole horde of them.. even if they fight monsters or get killed by monsters randomly..
... they really need to allow deletion of unit designs/custom faction within the game. or for that matter.. a library that list out what custom stuff there are and what versions they are compatible with.

isn't the problem with caravans not so much the caravan itself.. but lvling up the road or manually re-establishing the route that got destroyed?
i don't think this has anything to do with computer literacy. it's more to do with dodgy patching. i mean.. someone mentioned 2 patches of maybe 30 meg altogether is all that's needed to shift from n->o then surely the fact that the "proper" way according to impulse of doing it is by d/ling 2 gig's worth of whatever is a pretty good indication that something is wrong with the patching process.

(due to the high prestige)
in the beta, leveling up city is a lot faster than previous versions.. you just need a ton of food around. the capital turns lvl 4 without you even knowing anything about it to be honest.
