It sort of bothers me that this is being developed and marketed as a standalone game instead of as a traditional expansion. I would really like to see vanilla War of Magic refined and made into a better game instead of essentially being left behind with all the good ideas being dumped into Fallen Enchantress. Oh well, maybe it's better this way.
it the stardock company report that was posted just not so long a
Quoting Vandenburg, reply 34 ALSO: Another aspect of this game I would like to see fleshed out is Alliances. Let the factions that form an alliance offer each other units that the other faction can control. That way something can actually be done to an enemy faction. Another idea would be to have the various members of the factions vote on a supreme commander to control the various un
i would like to think with one major focus in FE is to make the landscape come alive. with the introduction of special zones i think the minor faction could also add more options both in diplomacy and overall how the game unfolds. i made a post on this recently Elementals minor factions + diplomacy for fallen enchantress. it could be sorta like the city states in civ 5 but each minor faction have its distinct look and distinct landscape. use diplomacy to be allies and get access to thei
im pretty sure if they produce a real quality product in FE and make the game with rich fantasy 4x elements poeple who dont own EWOM due to all the bad PR will go out and get FE. so i dont think that its charity if they make it good they will make money on it.
Id like to propose an idea on how to give more diversity and depth to both minor factions and dipomacy in general. lets first address that all main factions in the end of it all are your enemies who will compete with you for dominance in the game. with this in mind id like to suggest the following ideas... - minor factions are dotted around the map ( different races/ alignments etc...) they dont expand their borders but they do develop their city and technology to compensate for it so
This is a really intriguing idea, and one I think could have real merit. In general, adding personal quests to heroes would in fact add character to your heroes as well as draw the player deeper into the evolving in each game. However, there are several key things about adding heroes quests that need to be considered beyond simply throwing in more quests. Currently, most players seem to cast many quests and quest locations aside towards the middle of
ok i need to quote this comment becuase no the game is not fun yet. i want to cite that really all the patches to this point has really been about game mechanics, memory, ai and things of this nature. there has yet to be any patch that really injects the game wit
good choice on quest to implement tho others were good too but i think this one has that added flavor of spawning a new faction which always puts in a twist to the game. not to mention a demon faction you know derek will turn their land influence into hell ground lol! as long as the game keep movign in the right direction in the long run we can add all sorts of goodies to it. id like to see a core game faction of undead with some witches and vampires. a core angel faction too would be awsome
This will hardly surprise me. I was a great fun of the series but since Creative Assembly left Activision and went to Sega game lost its seriousness and has gone from bad to worse. Last good total war title was Rome (and probably the best) and that was 7 years ago. Every other, Medieval 2, the horrible Empire, were nothing but graphic improvements of the older games with broken features and bugs. AI is still missing! I weep the money i gave them to
I'll rate the games out of 10 rather than by assigning grades (perhaps a bit more clear?). I also haven't played Civ V (yet?) so I've substituted it with Supreme Commander 2, Sword of the Stars (Complete) and Galactic Civilizations II Twilight. Release: Elemental: 4/10 Starcraft 2: 8.5/10 Fallout New Vegas: 8/10 Supreme Commander 2: n/a, bought recently. Sword of the Stars: n/a, b
I prefer #2 as it gives the game more fantasy feeling. I'm so tired and bored of all the brown crap in this game.
I'm so tired and bored of all the brown crap in this game. agreed 100%
i like photoshop filter 2. that lighting is defenitely taking the game in the better eye candy direction.
praetorians... no base building just pure RTS. a good multiplayer community on gameranger
i like the demon lord quest since it spawns a faction if you fail it. not game breaking but adds a twist mid game. reminds me of hyborian from ffh2 spawning mid game and wreaking hell on the map. i really hope it adds some hell terrain like in ffh2 that was so badass as the hellground would spread.
The biggest thing atm, standing in the way of making the game fun is the strategic and tactical AI. There is no point in playing if there is no challenge / threat / conflict. Aside from the AI, the magic needs more depth, heroes need more abilities (skill trees if possible), tactical battles need more depth (walls, gates, destructible elements, etc) and factions / races need more differentiation.
i totally agree
i just want this game to be completely badass in all categories across the board. therefore motivation for the devs is good for the long haul. gotta praise them so they believe that its all possible and with some hard work all can be achieved. in the end i just want a real quality of a game to be produced with near limitless game path possibilities in a fantasy world with lots of strategy.
all i know is that KAEL will slowly but surely make this game what it was meant to be. right now hes pretty much laying the foundation for the best possible UI and game mechanics to make it all work in harmony. after all the mathematical crap has been put together to fine tune. THEN..and only THEN... HES GOING TO POLISH THE SHIT OUT OF THE GAME. THE GRAPHIC DISPLAY IS GOING TO MAKE CIV 5 LOOK LIKE CIV 1. EACH RACE WILL BE SO UNIQUE AND EACH ZONE ACCORDING TO THEIR ALIG
talent trees for ur soverin would be pretty cool indeed. like a wow talent tree like structure would be pretty sick. i dont think tho that heores should have one or maybe very limited ones cuase with multiple heros with talent trees for sure the AI would never be able to maximise its benefits the way a human would. unless brad hires a AI focused group of programmers working round the clock.
"A strategy game in an RPG world". Currently it is not that sort of game, no matter how much I wish it was. A more acurate description would be "A strategy game in a Low Fantasy World".
right now yes its a low fantasy world. but lets be honest here. its very little strategy. i dont see no archers in towers with advantages vs attackers. i dont see any real formation tactics. to
The answer is clearly NO. But the flip side is that it never should have even bothered trying. Let the modders do that stuff, it is something they truly excel at.
i have a problem with this. yes i am pro 100% that modders can get as much tools as possible for them to create BUT i think that the core game needs to have a real good rpg world/4xtbs game in place as we
yea from what the rep told me you can basically switch between windows and mac without having to reboot your system. my only question is which of the two would be the best approach in reguards to game stability and performance and whether or not the game would even let alone run on them. i wonder if anyone on here has boot camp or parallel which could shed some light on the matter. the mac interface i have to say is different than pc so there is a new learning curve ( its more icons and pictu
