Okay, I'm a gamer that needs physical media as storage for my games. I hate buying digital downloads, I'm always paranoid about companies shutting down services, so I purchase the retail edition of most games. I also live in Canada. When I heard about this game, I was really excited and went to my local EB Games about 1 month from release to preorder. I was saddened to learn that they weren't accepting preorders, and had never heard of the game. I was disappointed, but I thought, "They'll hav

But if you kept it, you wouldn't have to buy it again, and I have yet to see a Stardock product not 2 years old that has had a price reduction
I agree, this game is quite awesome and I don't really see where all the hate for it is coming from. You guys really did good on this one. And about the whole QT3 fiasco, I think that whole thing is really stupid. You have the right to insult him if he's being that big of a douche to you. I know if I was in that position, I would've said a lot worse.
If you want to get a refund, go ahead, but you'll regret it.
Hey, the Romans claimed to be benevolent rulers yet they practiced slavery!
So, for those of you who have downloaded the patch, is it true that it adds a Faction Creator???
Ahhh, Medieval II, good times...
Personally, though, so-called "issues" with DRM, such as having to connect to the internet, which seems to be a huge gripe among players, really isn't all that bad. I'm constantly hooked up to the internet, so I don't really care whether it needs to authenticate ever 10 minutes or so. 90% of the population should have no problem with it, but I suppose everyone has a bone to pick.
In the words of Bill Gates: 'If they're going to pirate anything, better that they pirate OUR stuff."
So since many people already have the game, I want to know how diverse the selection of equipment is. Is it just basically just progression to the next level up in equipment, or will there be rare sets of weapons and armor to find? On another note, can you dual wield swords instead of using a shield, and are there two handed weapons available?
Whatever, the fact that it came from Kotaku automatically tosses awaty the idea of an unbiased opinion. There's been a dirty track record of bribes and such on it internationally.
Ok, thanks. Now I'm anticipating tomorrow!
Whatever, go ahead and miss out on a worthwhile game I suppose.
Lol, Kotaku??? With a valid opinion???
So, since everyone seems to have this game already, does this mean that the retail version is on store shelves yet?
So I haven't been participating in the Beta, but I've been following this game, and I've heard talk of the premade sovereigns (especially one Procipinee) being way more powerful than your custom sovereigns. One of the reasons why I follow this game is the awesome customization, but with first the removal of the built-in Faction Editor, and now this, this is looking pretty lame. Any word on whether this will be different in the final version?
Being the egotistical (I don't CARE if it's not a real word!) bastard that I am, my sovereign will be both named after me and in as good a likeness to myself that I can make.
Prices are hightened in more wealthy countries becuase they can get more money from selling it at a higher price, as the average citizen/the target audience will have more money than those in poorer countries. For example, games in Poland might go for $30, but here in Canada they sell for about $50, since we have more GDP than Poland.
Wow, that's pretty awesome.
Well they're probably inactive due to the fact that they were for developer convenience, now that they have moved on to working on a higher build they have no reason to keep them active. Besides, cheats kinda ruin the game for me.
Awww lame, the whole character customization thing really adds some depth to the game... Ah well, I normally avoid campaign and play skirmishes anyways.
Sooo... I could have a Fallen sovereign leading the Kingdoms?
Most likely, since you need to juggle troop production, homeland security, technological upgrades, expansion, exploitation, all the other 4X stuff, plus a few other things.
Sorry for flooding the forums, but I have a lot of questions. When we create our sovereigns, will they be bound to a certain faction of our choosing, or will they be able to be used by certain factions depending on race?
In the campaign mode, will we be able to play as our created sovereigns or will we be forced to play as a preset sovereign?
