Well I finally fixed the problem after a few hours of searching the interwebz, but seriously guys, configure your update software to be a bit more user friendly. People like me with short tempers don't like it!

So I have a boxed edition of Elemental, and I've been enjoying version 1.09e so far, but today I decided to download the more recent 1.11 update. Whenever I clikc "Update" on Impulse, however, it starts downloading, gets to about 0.8% and then says "Download was smaller than expected." Every time I try this it gives me this message. I'm getting really frustrated now, and am losing my patience with this game so far. Can anyone help me out?
I really don't see how Fallout fanboys can be bad. I mean, the game truly is great. In fact, one of the best Action/RPGs I have ever played. In terms offFanboys who don't take criticism well, most fanboy communities are like that, but I have to say Final Fantasy fanboys are the worst. THE WORST. Many of them even deluded themselves into believing that Final Fantasy XIII was a good game, just because it had the title, "Final Fantasy".
[quote who="Wintersong" reply="35" id="2862294"] Quoting cfnz, reply 34 Quoting ElanaAhova, reply 9 all fanboys!I'll go for this. The other side of the coin is no better though. There is no other side. Everybody is a fanboy. Everybody is a troll. Naming depends of point of view. If Hollywood were to exploit the infinite ore of the internet, we could get awesome movies like "Clash of the Fanboys". [/
All I can say is that a game is made by a team of people, and while Jon was one memeber of that team, that doesn't mean you guys have to scream "crucify him!" just because that game didn't turn out to your expectations. In the end, it's all a matter of opinion. I never played Civ5, so I can't say for sure whether it was good or bad. You people also have to realize that your opinion can never have factual basis for another person. Another person may see glaring flaws where someone else sees an
Nenjin, an easy way to copy your backstory onto another Sovereign is to go into the .xml file, located in your My Documents/Elemental/Units, open the file with a word editing program, and copy and paste the backstory from one Sovereign to the next.
Thanks for the helpful info everyone! Great news that I'm hearing. Now I can use my old Sovereign in future versions and beyond, hopefully. This is what I love about this community, prompt, helpful responses.
Alright, I've asked this before but with 1.11 out I'm wondering if it still applies: Will my sovereigns that I created in 1.9 carry over into version 1.11? Thanks in advance.
I'm very surprised that my earlier predictions I made to myself came out somewhat right. From the start I kinda expected Civ V to be a bit of a letdown. I could tell because they seemed like they were kinda taking a few steps back from Civ IV in the pre-release news. Elemental, however, I expected would be kind of a niche-type game, but would eventually evolve into a better, albiet less well-known, 4X game.
I would think Wraiths were not undead, as they can reproduce... or so I'd assume from population growth. Unless you're saying that they're necromancers. THAT I'd like to see.
Wow, that's good, I suppose. Thanks for the intel.
So in that case, I could keep my Sovereign through all the patches, and he'd still have all his spellbooks no matter what?
So with the release of the 1.1 patch looming, I have a question for those who chose to participate in the 1.1 Beta: I have a Sovereign who I created with all the 4 elemental spellbooks. Say I download the 1.1 patch, where it removes the option to select the elemental spellbooks in the creator. Is it possible for me to retain my Sovereign, with all the spellbooks, into future versions of the game? I was just thinking this because Sovereigns created in the past with the Organized trait
Never mind, I tested it and it turns out you CAN equip your Sovereign with other weapons.
No, I'm talking about getting weapons that AREN'T in the creation screen to be equipped to my Sovereign at the start of the game.
Just a quick question regarding the lore of the game. Are the Wraiths undead or not? And how come they also appear on the Kingdom race selector? Are they not supposed to be evil?
Okay, say I wanted to be really cheap and wanted to replace my Sovereign's staff with, say, a Longsword, so that on the game's startup, I'd have a Longsword. Is this possible? I know there's a value for the starting weapon in the XML file, but I don't know if replacing it will do anything? Can someone shed some light on this?
So I just recently got the game, and in my first few forays into a comp stomp, I noticed that the only housing building I had available for my cities was a hut. Just a hut. So I'm playing on epic, and I reach turn 200, and my empire spans half the globe, yet my guys are still living in huts. I've seen houses in beta gameplay footage, any word on how I can upgrade to nice houses instead of huts?
I can't remeber where, but I do recall Frogboy at one point confirming that Sovereigns are immortal.
Still, the point stands that your main character, who you hopefully invested time into improving, would suddenly die and would be replaced by some crappy offspring who you never specced or anything. They could be the most horrible character ever, but you'd be stuck with them, whether they suit your playing style or not. Say I had a mage-type character, and he suddenly dies. I'm left with my child, who is a good warrior but a crappy mage. I want him to be a mage, but the game practically slpas
Having your created character, who you (hopefully) invested time and thought into creating just roll over and die 50 turns into the game from old age just doesn't sit well with me.
Yeah it says that their status as a Channeler makes them immortal.
I just thought they could've done a bit better with the quests' writing, seeing as Brad wrote a good book and all. \\
So I've been playing Elemental since I got it (2 days ago) and so far the game is awesome, I love it, but I have to say the quest dialog (when it's trying to be funny) seems a little forced and kind of lame personally. For example, in the Wild Goose Chase quest, which I often get at the start of the game, the joke about you being after the one ring or something after finishing maybe 2 steps of the quest fell flat on its face. For one, it didn't feel like I had spent so long a time on the ques
So I was playing the game with all settings turned down, because my PC's not the best machine ever, and whenever I start a new game, the ground is all black in some areas. It's not scorch marks, because it's pure black, and very ugly. My graphics card is a Radeon X1300. Can someone help?
