You can build a city on a swamp, have it sink into the swamp, build another city which sinks in the swamp, have the next one burn down then sink into the swamp, but have the fourth one stand!

Everything you said there is totally contradictory to the whole POINT of a TBS. It's not SUPPOSED to be accessible, it's not SUPPOSED to be streamlined for the casual players out there, it's a STRATEGY game for STRATEGY exprets. Now if it hurts your brain to look at 6 numbers instead of 5, that's none of my concern. From my personal experience, the majority would like a magic resistance stat. It just makes way more sense than using defence for everything, which is both imbalanced and stupid f
Adding in Magic Resistance to EVERY SINGLE WEAPON AND ARMOR is a much better fix in my opinion, seeing as it was a bad move to base it off armor in the first place. Then magic would be perfectly balanced, and they could focus on a lot more. Plus, magic resistance would give a lot more depth to both unit design and deployment of units, in that you would have to factor in whether or not you will be fighting against enemies who can cast, and other such scenarios. All in all it would make the gam
Well, I'd never think a game called WAR of Magic would be battle-oriented...
Your guy's an almighty immortal Sovereign, he could be like 100 and still look 23 or something. Age doesn't matter to him.
Well ddd, pray tell how this variety of spells will help the magic system when they'll all miss and roll for 0-10 damage against some ogre? This is why we need magic resistance, or at least have magic roll against INT instead of defence. This is War of MAGIC. Not just WAR.
No, he's right, there has been some plain flaming towards Stardock going on, but for the most part the community realizes that the game has a few bugs, and are simply trying to give constructive criticism.
Good, because this is one of my major gripes about this game. I'm glad Stardock does something to better the game and doesn't just toss it in the gutter and force it's fans to accept what it is.
Hmmm, but it would take some time to specify each spell as either physical or magical damage. However, the end result would be a magic system vastly more interesting and immersive than this one. Then all they need to do is fix the atrocious mana regen and the magic system will be okay... for now.
Easy fix: make the sword two-handed. ;D
Well even if they don't add in another stat, at least make the enemies resist magic based on a stat other than defence.
No, see, that's the whole problem. Magic sucks because it goes up against defence. You can get defence from armor, but tell me, how is that ****** armor going to defend you from a ball of fire hurled at your face? Since defence controls how much damage magic does, ogres and other such powerful monsters can easily shrug off your 50-100 damage spells, mitigating them to measly numbers in the single digits. In other games, magic is supposed to be EFFECTIVE against foes that are physically strong
Bump, the Stardock people must see this!
Evidently there was a reason WHY your unit's morale was low. Seeing as I don't have the game, all I can tell is that you were doing something wrong.
I think it's because you annihilated a minor faction instead of a main faction. Minor factions do not expand or level up their cities, as far as I know.
Seriously though, in the future, consider my suggestion of having separate physical and magical resistance stats! It would make the game a whole lot more balanced!
Ah well, at least we have free health care and only a mildly corrupted government.
Yeah, it would also need to differentiate between physical spells and metaphysical spells, which would be a lot of work. To be honest, I expected any game with magic to have a separate set of resistances for physical and magic. I was surprised to learn Stardock really dropped the ball here.
Magic only sucks because they're basing it on armor. I think that if they simply added in this stat, magic would be more worthwhile in combat.
Well, in terms of the lore, it kinda makes sense seeing as the Sovereign imbues part of himself in the champion, so when the champion levels up, a part of the Sovereign levels up too.
Magic Resistance! There NEEDS to be a magic resistance stat. It would balance the game out AND fix a whole lot of problems with the magic system being underpowered. Now, instead of having enemies like trolls and spiders (enemies strong in physical attacking) take pitiful damage from high-level spells, you could have magic instead ignore armor and focus on magic resistance. Magic resistance could be derived from INT or WIS, or you could get bonuses to it from enchanted armor and weapons even.<
I think it's because they're a minor faction, minor factions aren't supposed to expand from what I've heard.
Hmmm, maybe I will end up buying the digital version this time around. But next time, Stardock should ensure better distribution in retail.
Well this sucks. BOTH my local Walmarts, and all my local gaming stores have never even heard of ths game. Thanks a lot Stardock, I don't even have the game and I'm already having problems with it.
Alright thanks Katalist, I'll do that right when the store opens tomorrow. Also, I know about the deluxe edition with the download + boxed edition, I didn't get it because of the 25$ extra in exchange rate and S&H. I'm on a bit of a budget. :C
