I am impressed by the set-up work. Stunned, really. But a few words of advice. I was long involved with modding for Baldur's Gate II. One mod (ToB-Refinements) was modular: we couldn't do *everything* we initially hoped to do, but we did release (and maintained) a fine product, I think. We kept our goals reasonable, step by step. I was also involved with Return To Windspear: a large, ambitious project with a rather large team of

About Heroes of Might & Magic... never tried any of the series. Are those campaign only? Or is there a sandbox mode too?
I should point out that several players have compiled similar lists and feedback threads (walls of text). Several of those aren't listed here (including an amazing one on the UI by Mtrixis), but please don't think that means we're not reading them over and noting the feedback. In fact, some of them have been printed out for folks to take home and read.
Yes, please do take that into account. It's been validated by tons
Worse yet, we're not even talking about bugginess or simply unit balancing issues. Those can be fixed relatively easily. What people are hoping for, and going back to MoM to obtain, is the game mechanics that flesh out a fantasy world where magic and warfare intermix. This was the key selling point of EWOM, and I hope the game stays true to its name sake.
Exactly. Nobody would be summoning up comparisons with MoM if
The game is unfinished: there's little to debate, really. Most of the reviewers state this and players are asking for refunds. It's certainly a fair request. I personally won't ask for a refund since I still believe in the team, and I prefer to give some support at this point. I won't resume playing until at least patch 1.1, though.
I'd like the fairly standard option to choose an installation path too.
A bit unexpected but nice! A boost of positivity doesn't hurt. More fuel to the engine :)
I believe the Adventure path should, fundamentally, NOT exist. One thing is to research technology and see a mineral resource pop up (meaning: you didn't know that the mineral was useful). One thing is to research "adventure" and having LAIRS and DRAGONS pop up for no reason. Where were they, before?!? I hate to summon again the comparison with MoM but... You saw a lair with sky dragons and you stayed well
This thread is getting seriously weird. If MoM was somehow resurrected using todays technology everyone would hate it. The balance and bugs where horrible in the last official patch and the concept was almost cartoony in simplicity. Face it, you don't actually want MoM. You want something new. Something better. And definitely something different since you all obviously played the game until the floppy discs shattered, and thus already know each and
[e digicons]k1[/e] There, found out how to give karma :) We're waiting for the next chapter [e digicons][/e] Actually, it would be nice to have a sort of "consensus" about the issues that need most work. Of course there's never going to be a general agreement, but if you indeed can keep up with the following parts, they might provide a good basis for all. You seem to have an eye for these things, and the methodical approach to p
I also share the OP's thoughts about MoM. But then the problem is : basically, the more I think about it, the more I simply realize that I wanted "MoM 2.0". Basically a graphical upgrade, rebalancing and maybe adding some perks. I'm not sure that I do EWoM justice, because I've a hard time judging it on its own merits and not just comparing it to the "MoM 2" I wanted to get.
Quoted for truth. MoM was absolut
But if there's NO plan to provide one (because it's difficult to make, because it's too costly or what have you), then people, we DESERVE to know. Truly random maps are defiantly in the pipeline. We figure there are around 80-100 man-hours left to get them up to speed (they were working pretty well at one point, but got messed up along the way, plus we need that stamp intergration, ways to ensure players dont start in blocked se
For me, the biggest issue is the giant gremlin in the room . It's the thing on your list of improvements that many 4x and stardock fans really don't understand: "- More Maps" As someone else has already said above, no one wants more maps. More maps is a temporary fix. We want a real, working, random world generation algorithm.
Again, the thing that troubles me is the
I am stunned the big sites have not reviewed the game yet and I dont know why. Certainly they are not waiting for the game to be playable, ie. doing Stardock a favor. I see reviews all the time that ding games for bugs, lack of polish, etc. And while it is a niche title...its not like Stardock is some unknown studio. They develop. They publish. They are not EA but they are big enough to merit week 1 reviews,
MAGIC TECH TREE: Magic Tech tree is kinda barren. I feel like I get all the spells anyways so why research into magic? Why not have the majority of spells only unlockable through research?? Then you would definately feel motivated to research Magic. And what if you could focus on different schools of magic, fire, ice, wind etc within the research tree. The more you researched the more latent effects each spell could have - sl

I've been a Stardock customer for just two days and I feel a bit of a bond too. :) Also, the game is great. I stayed up late last night (ONE MORE TURN!!!!), and I'm here posting before going to work. There are definitely some MOM vibes, and more. Never thought I'd see the day, I mean, I'm 34 and I've seen games pass by. Still need to learn alot about mechanics, strategies and all, but I repeat: there's no telling how great this game can be with more work and ex
Rock Paper Shot Gun should "publicly" apologize for their mistake. That said, great post. Don't let the experience take you away from posting though, because the open attitude is actually a BIG plus. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, can mean trouble [e digicons][/e]
My biggest problem with the article is the quote he took out of context.
True, it was my biggest problem too, but it's the way it is, and one needs to be extra-careful. Alas, rumors feed upon themselves, and have a way of growing out of proportion. Anyway, some mistakes have been made, evidently. Simply by following the forums (I have not been involved in the BETA) I did perceive some amount of overconfid
Really guys, how can software/games users not understand that this is the best production model for us ? Designing is an iterative process. If they go all the way, expansions included, and release them all at once... then we wouldn't like half of it. This way we get a playable, complete yet improvable game first, and then we can HELP SHAPE future developments. Frankly this is the reason why I'm here. Things are
Food is not REALLY a global resource. It is stated somewhere (the manual IIRC) that a city under siege will have to survive on its own food.
CTRL+S It's in the manual
Ok I admit at first I was just a bit disappointed. The world felt really "empty", and mostly I felt disoriented by the interface: and I'm NOT saying it doesn't work, only that -not knowing it- I simply didn't know where to find stuff. I mean you can't know how to create groups until you try and hit SHIFT + mouse select (which is handy enough once you get it). I couldn't even figure out how to build a farm, or find an "enchantment slot", or manage to cast a spell in the strate
