Hey, @all, relax :) I think the devs are a bit under stress at this point, while gamers who have waited and debated over the game for so long understandably start to raise their expectations and notice every minor quibble. Being pretty new around here and having preordered too late for the beta, I think I have kind of a fresh reaction to the whole thing (today's videos showed me what it's all really about for the first time!). Frankly, the game looks terrific.

Planescape: Torment doesn't need remaking, imho. It's perfectly playable as it is. What it would need, is a sequel :) I would love to see an Annah centered one, for instance (and I'm sure many would agree with me!) Alpha Centauri , on the other hand, needs to be remade.
The first one and least important is the ability to move from one world to the other. It expanded the exploration phase a lot, and Myrror, sparsely populated, was a great place to adventure in. The second one and most important is the forging of magic items. Being able to design your own set of armor, weapon, etc. was just awesome. ...
Spot on. Possibly the first two elements to list when consider

Thanx for the thread, that's the info I was looking for :) It'll be interesting to see how the comparisons evolve in future versions.

?? [e digicons]-_-[/e] As I said I've already preordered the game and I'm just peacefully waiting for it to be available.

Well I thought "what the heck", recharged my card and just pre-ordered the game (Digital Download, I've had some troubles with overseas expeditions) :) Now do I have to wait 3 weeks, or do I get to download the Beta? (I'll be honest, mostly I hate to have the transaction pending :D) I guess it's the former, as Impulse isn't showing anything (I did check the "show prerelease versions" box). Thanx all again and sorry if I seemed a troublemaker or something ;)

Ok, thanx to the posters who didn't quickly label me as a troll :) I'm not. If I weren't interested in purchasing the game, I wouldn't have bothered to post here. My complaint maybe is more philosophical than practical: I do believe that legit customers should enjoy the smoothest, easiest, most complete and comfortable experience. Any inconvenience they have to run into because of the pirates, is a point scored by the pirates. Example: movie DVDs (I used to collect th
Yea ... you only need to be online IF your patching, and can be offline while using the patch ... and apparantly can even save the patched data onto a physical source after the update as well.
That would solve my issue as I said, but there doesn't seem to be a consensus about this point... To clarify, I'm NOT complaining about having to use Impulse to download a patch... the problem rises when you re-install the OS from scratch: the Stardock official info
I actually used to share the same concerns as you. If I didn't have hard-copies then I wasn't happy. What swung me around with Stardock and Impulse is that you can essentially archive the game install. So basically you can update via Impulse then save an archive in case something goes sour. Best of both worlds.
Thanx for getting it, pal :) If that's how it works, then it's ok. But, you'll have to hand it to me that it's not very clearly stated an

Thanx for the answers. So I guess I was right after all (despite being labelled as a "troll") See, possible scenario: 20 years from now. Stardock has gone bankrupt and disapperead (obviously I hope not!) I get a futuristic supercomputer with a WinXP emulator. Then I find out that I CANNOT install a patched version of game. It's not even a matter of money: it's sheer impossibility. You may think it's an exagerated concern and it is, but it's always

Ok, first of all, I'm deeply sorry if I misunderstood the described procedure. That said, my "source" is simply this one: https://www.stardock.com/support/activation_info.aspx It's about "Stardock products" so I took it it includes Elemental. I basically don't know anything about steam, impulse or whatever, I haven't been much into gaming lately (I mean years lately). I only knew about Stardock because I tried the Demo of GalCiv II but i

You had me, when I read about Elemental's planned features You had me, when I learned about this "MoM reimagining" You had me, when I knew about the feedback-driven development You had me, when I read about the continuous improvements made on released software You had me, when I saw the result of the art direction choices And then you LOST me.. when I saw the details about the activation procedure. Sorry guys, this is just
